My VW Golf 2002 .hazard switch keeps making the clicking noise like as if it was pushed on but it is not. That part has been replaced 3 times. it keeps clicking after it is installed until it fails and all the signals (turn) go out. They are connected to the hazard switch in some way because the clicking when your turn signals are activated comes from there. What should I do?

SOURCE: vw golf 1994 indicators

Hi,

Most Golf and Jetta have their relays bunched together with the fuse block. Often, it would be inside the fuse box/compartment located under the facia panel, on the right-hand side, behind a removable cover. On most models, the flasher relay would be labeled 21.

Incidentally, sometime ago, there was a recall on some Golf where Volkswagen dealers will install a new hazard flasher switch/relay kit to remedy a common issue. You may want to try first Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: MY VW LUPO IS HUNTING

The hunting and clicking is caused by a stuck vapor canister purge valve. The valve is on a vacume line. When it gets stuck open too much air enters the engine at idle or low rpm. This will cause the engine to hunt and stall as soon as any load is put on it if you do not rev it hard. The engine will over-run when coming to a stop and probably stall. It can come and go putting the chack light on. The quick fix is to just un-plug the solenoid. facing the enginebay it is located on the left hand side just infront of the suspention mount it is half balck half blue on every lupo i have seen. unpluging it will mean the car is driveable again but the check light does come on. It is 100% safe as long as nothing else happens that goes undetected because the light is already on. The part is about £70/80 from VW,  they may or may not know what you are talking about but i would not bother going to VW. The part is easy to find at a scrapyards if there are Lupos / Polos.  A number of other VAG cars share the part as well.  Any other problems come along to clublupo.co.uk

My 1998 vw golf mk3 hazard lights wont turn off?

Replace the hazard swirch. I know on the Jetta, the hazard switch/indicator unit were all in one part of the hazard switch. Pull it out, unplug, plug in another one and see if it solves the problem.

Hazzard switch keeps clicking after i use my signal lights

Dear Steve_Borela,

Try pressing the switch again, these are usually DPDT (double pole double throw) switches. Meaning they have a push to make, push to unmake connection. In short your hazard lights are still on. If you have turned them off, then either your switch or a connection issue.

Hope this is the fixya for you.

Yours sincerely

Loud clicking noise whenstarting vw golf 1998

it could be noisy lifters... do you have clean oil in there oil is it black.

dirty oil will make volkwagens make lots of engine noise.

it also could be a spark arcing to metal. check to see all your spark plug wires are pushed all the way down and dont have cracks in them.

Signals don't signal

check fuse number 17 in fuse block if ok check bulbs <you said they turn on just don't flash so thats ok> the relay feeds power to the switch cluster but the flasher unit itself is built into the combo switch for turn signal/hazard switch

Starting problem with 1995 VW Golf TDi

if there is a clicking noise, its probably the solenoid on the starter. that unit pushes the starter motor forward and also connects the live of the starter.
