Actually, both the Jimmy and the Suburban should both have the 4L60E transmissions (assuming the suburban is a 1/2 ton; 3/4 ton used 4L80E). I am currently researching a similar swap. So far the only potential issues I have found in using the Jimmy (or other S series truck) transmissions in the Suburbans are the following: 1. The S series trucks may have come with fewer clutch packs than the Suburban models. This may cause premature failure of the transmission in the larger vehicle. 2. The torque converters are likely have different stall speeds and you won't want to use the torque converter from the junk transmission you are replacing, so it may be necessary to get a new / rebuilt torque converter.
