I have an 1993 Ford F250 turbo diesel truck that won't start. I've been told, that the glow plugs are not warming up. Where are the glow plugs and is there anything I can do to warm them up or fix? Do they need replaced? Is it possible that I flooded the truck with diesel fuel?

If your glow plugs are not warming up, then your glow plugs are either bad, or your glow plug relay is bad there is a test that you can do to check them, but it sounds like you've already had that done? It's not expensive to replace glow plugs, so go ahead and do that? Many, many people swear by the fact... Do not use Autolites!!!
they state that they tend to swell, or even break and when you try to remove them, portions of the glow plug remain in the block! Not a good thing!

Are you waiting after turning ignition key on before actually moving key to start position? My diesel I turn key to 1st position;bells and lights;if engine is cold an amber light that looks like a lamp filiment comes on...wait until that light goes out before engaging the starter.

What is the problem ? I have a 1993 ford f 250 7.3 liter diesel. New Glow Plugs. Glow plug light comes on and goes out very quick , engine cranks excessively , before starting

I think you nailed it with the amount of time you glow plug light. It should stay on until you engage or it should be timed to stay on longer.

1993 ford f250 7.3 liter diesel starting problems

It is worth ensuring the glow plugs are actually receiving current by attaching a test lamp during the starting process. Heater plug timer relays can cause problems.

A good cranking speed is necessary for good cold starting and also good injector spray patterns and break-off pressures. Bad spray patterns and low pressures, slow cranking and fuel drain-back are common problems.
Low compression pressures can also be a problem. If the other stuff has been checked and found to be ok it is worth having them tested.

93 ford f250 7.3 ltr diesal hard to start in cool or cold weather often run battery down have to recharge battery to start. new glow plugs installed 3 years ago. once started good for the day. warm weather...

This engine 'loves' glow plugs! One goes and the others try to handle the amps. Change them and you will have no probs! Other than that, I feel this is about the best diesel truck made!

1993 ford f250 7.3 diesel glow plugs not working. what to do?

Check the fuse first then check the wire harness and connection working your way back from the glow plug to the fuse box. Good luck and hope this helps. If everything is good then replace the glow plugs.

7.3 l diesel wont start

Bad glow plugs and/or glow plug controller. Common issue with these vehciles. Some also have harness failures. Replace all glow plugs as a set not individually.
