If installing an aftermarket radio, you should have a red wire to power the radio, a yellow wire to keep memory and settings alive and a solid black one to ground the unit, on top of all the speaker outputs and electric antennas. On the vehicle side, do it the old way, with voltmeter in hand, search for a cable that is "alive" / 12 volts with the ignition turned off, to connect to your radio yellow cable, and then with the ignition set to the 2 position, or vehicle turned on, search for a live cable that was not live before, and that would be your radio power cable, the red one.
Invest in a test light.
1 wire always haves power that is the memory wire usually yellow.
2nd wire goes on and off with the key. That is accessory power, usually red.
3rd black ground
4th Blue remote not applicable to use radio for use with external amplifier.
all the rest are speaker wires and can be figured out manually.

No & they usually don't. One of the easiest & cleanest ways of doing it, is to go to auto supply store or stereo store & buy the adapter harness. Few bucks saves many headaches & makes it easy & clean to switch back if you sell the vehicle.
SOURCE: The color of the wires from my old and new radio dont match up!?
Jags are definitely a pure breed. The new radio most likely has writing on the wires that tell where they are to be connected to. I take that back. I just checked the wiring of an older model JVC unit and there or not listings. If your radios doesn't have writing just remember Orange(or yellow) is illumination, and it goes to the fuse block; red is power, going to the fuse block; the big black one is the ant.; the little one is the ground to the chassis. The others are speakers. Connect them to the colors they are closely resembling in your Jag. Connect the power and turn on your radio. You can reconnect the lines to the correct speaker by checking each speaker. hope this helps.
