280zx rear hatch light switch

On my 1983 280zx, my dome light does not go out with the rear hatch
being closed. I had the rear hatch seal off and the dome light went off,
then I reinstalled the hatch seal and the dome light won't go off with the
hatch being closed. I assume it's either a bad hatch switch or out of
adjustment. My question is, where is it? The is no switches or wires
anywhere I can see. Please help me find it.

Check behind both the latch and the lock sounds like out of adjustment a door adjustment may even fix it

Jeep xj 2000 rear hatch light

each door has a switch. Cherokee. XJ. Gas not diesel, USA not export or police car.
test the switch that fails.
there are 2 ways.
any DMM on slow resistance ohms scale, called "continuity check"
or use live voltage checks.
many cars , the door closes and the voltage goes to 0volts.
alldata.com and the FSM show what to do, just read the book step by step.

seems the wiring to front dome is failing.
to find that use a schematic,.
this makes finding any electrical problem easy.
alldata. com and the FSM have that.

all answer, USA , non export models. and never ever stated here by any poster. ever. 1` in 10,000?
click wiring
click PDF page.
233 the lamp page
as you can see the 2 lamps get power from the same fuse.
so that path is not bad.
as you can see only 1 lamp has a local ground (manual) switch.
all other lamps are in parallel and must all work in unison.
id say pin B is broken to lamp. sure would.

page 236 shows the lift gate switch and sure a heck, is 0v
closed, and yours works a, you said the other lamp works via this hatch. switch.
so the problem is above the lamp or any wire to pin B bad.

Rear hatch wont shut dome light off

I'm not familiar with the switch on that one. The quick fix is take bulb out of socket then find out what triggers the light. It's normally a small switch that is covered with a soft rubber cone shaped piece. It is normally on the body not the door. You will have to take the switch out to check it. Have you tried all the switches in the car? My car as a separate switch than the Light switch

1983 280zx turbo no power to lights for all gauges to illuminate in dark

Check fuses with a guage, not by sight. Get an 83 wiring diagram & start tracing. Check fusible links, switches & connectors first.

Not sure about the 83ZX but many (most?) cars have the tail lights on the same circuit as the dash lights so you can tell when your tail lights are out. Check the tail light fuse.

It's a fuse that is out. I think it is the one for the rear defroster or rear wiper. I did that once. I needed a fuse so I pulled it out and I had headlights but no guage lights. But when I had the key on acc the guages lit up.

check if you are getting any power to your dimmer switch, i had all gauge lights out and checked the dimmer switch- no power, replaced it w/ a junkyard unit and it works perfect now

The rear dome light will not turn off. Do you

The back hatch has a switch that is supposed to be turned off when the hatch is closed. The switch could be stuck or the hatch not hitting it right. You could just take the bulb out.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

1994 jeep cherokee sport, rear dome light will not come on when hatchback is opened. Works fine if I switch on all dome lights (front & rear) via turning headlight switch. I am assuming there is some...

Look for a button like thing sticking out of frame where door closes, or even on door frame for same. May even look like a wedge shaped black button, spring loaded, try moving it to see. That will be your switch that turns on the light when open.
