If there is a ticking noise on the engine it may be that your engines hydrolic valve lifter's may be failing. The reason why it may be a running problem is that the valve lifters are part the VANOS system witch is BMW's answer for variable valve timing. you have the M44B19 engine witch only has VANOS on the intake cam shaft. I cant be shure with the infomormation I have if this looks right and you require more assistance.

Please Ask.

the Brake wobling may be from brake disc being replaced too late you have to replace your brakes before the pads are just metal. This can severely damage and warp your brake discs.

Dont listen to salesmen  they are just trying to make money. Pirate brakes work just as good as original ones depending on the make. Id recommend FERRODO.

1998 bmw 318is e36 - idle is low and switches of when started, when driving accelerator doesnt respond, once warmed up accelerator a bit better, but overall not too smooth, johannesburg south africa

undo mass air flow sensor start moter multiple times if it starts to run fairly normal drive it and see if it comes together then if it does then by a mass air flow light may come on during this but no harm will go out eventually after new piece installed

Where is the auxillary fan fuse located on 1997 bmw 318i?

Auxiliary Cooling Fan Circuit Fuses
Fuse 16 is 5 amps located in front power distribution box under hood, drivers side near rear of engine compartment.

Fuse 41 (ex. M44 w/man. trans) is 30 amp (probably not your car) in front power distribution box

Fuse 48 (M44 w/man. trans only) is 40 amp (The auxiliary fuse box in trunk for E36 is on the right side of trunk behind the trim panel.)

97 M3 chokes on clold start.

The E36 M3 is natorious for having some minor enigine hesitation immediately after a cold start. My car does this for about the first block both in the morning and after work. Its part of the engine management start routine: you will see this more specifically if you just start you car when its cold and let it idle. Initially you'll notice that the idle tone is a bit more rumbly and rough; but after about minute or so you'll notice that pitch changes and smoothes out. I was alarmed about this too, but after some research, I found it was a characteristic of the design. Just take it easy for the first block and you will never notice. Don't ever cold rev your engine. - Hope that helps.
