1989 corvette, replaced mass airflow and still cuts out and then runs rough till it sits for a while. Took it to chevy dealer and mech said that another sensor was causing problem with the mass airflow causing it to run rough and die at lights. I have spent a lot of money and still have this problem! On the back of the throttle butterfly is a sensor that controls the amount of fuel and it has carbon paths inside it ands i think this is the one causing your problem ,

My '89 Chevy G20 350ci (5.7l) TBI Has a hard starting problem in the morning . Ive heard a MAF sensor can cause this or is it fuel related ? Thanks .

MAF sensors can cause the engine to run rough, have no power, etc. I had a Blazer that didn't run right on start up. It would backfire and run rough until it warmed up, but still never ran good. MAF stands for mass air flow and if it tells the computer the wrong airflow, the computer will mis-judge the amount of fuel to add. On the other hand, if it won't start at all it could be the fuel!

There is a "spider" injection system in the intake manifold. Check that.

'92 chevy lumina van running rough after fuel pump replacement

mass airflow sensors don't have a vacuum line, you sure you don't mean the EGR valve? if it was the regulator i doubt it would run good or make much of a difference unplugging the vacuum line, take a reading of the fuel pressure, if it starts to drop while the van is running you have a bad regulator.

1989 corvette runs rough surges between 600 and 700 rpm. drive it for 20 minutes it totally runs awful. had to have it towed the other day..waited two hour for flatbed started car and it ran again..code 44...

try replacing the fuel regulator, that would make it get too much fuel and the code for o2 sensor will come on saying too lean or too rich fuel mixture, and it would run rough

2000 Eclipse wont start, fuel in plugs

I hate to be the one to tell you this but if there is fuel, oil, water getting into your plugs than you have bad rings. the vehicle will not start because it is not getting enough compression to do so. If you love the car and would like it to run again it will cost about $1000.00 to have the rings done if not more. But since there is water than fuel getting into your plugs than it is a defenent sign that your rings are bad.
