I got an 1992 olds eighty eight royale from a friend of mine. it wasn't running. It would run but then you would drive it somewhere and then let it sit and it would not start for them. They had taken it to a shop. The shop could not duplicate the problem but replaced the crankshaft sensor hoping that would fix it. The problem continued. I get the car and i put a new ignition module in and it works fine. For a week, then it started missing when idling and die. I changed the plugs, wires, tried another ignition control module, a new computer. The problem persist. It runs fine when cold, after it warms up it won't idle and misses badly. if i am on the highway it is ok. My thinking is that maybe there is a short to crankshaft sensor. I'm not sure what to do. Any help is appreciated.

sorry about delay been decorating bedroom and moved computer ,this is one of them sort of things that in all honesty i would need to use the vehicle for a day or so to get the feel then i would be able to have a good knowledge of what could be wrong ,or is it more than one thing or not or something simple like a air leak on a breather pipe or a vacumn pipe .

1994 AND 93 ?

You will probably want to use the computer off the 94 just to make sure everything works properly. Other than that it should work. May have to do work arounds on throttle linkage or maybe some plugs.

OK.....turn key ignition on....can hear fuel pump doing its thing.....try to start engine....engine turns over easy....it almost wants to start....like it coughs a bit....but just doesn't come to life....

Get a fuel gauge and check the pressure. Should be around 40. Spray some carb cleaner into intake and see if it runs a moment then you know if you have a fuel related problem. Reply mine has 310,000 miles on it.

I have a 1992 olds 88 when it is warm driving down the road it cuts out and when you let up on accelerator it picks back up

1. If you floor it when it acts like this and it runs correctly you can eliminate a fuel problem, it may be the throttle position sensor . 2. if not test for 45 psi lbs of fuel pressure, if you have it, I would start looking at the catalytic converter
