Hello: You are not going to like this information but to remove the oil pan you have to remove the engine or transmission. If you remove the transmission you will have to support the rear of the engine, same goes if you remove the engine you have to support the transmission, They are supported from the top because the cradle has to come out. (the cradle holds the engine/transmission on the bottom. This is not a simple task.

How to remove a oil pan from a 1988 Cadillac sedan deville

Have to remove the bolt from the motor mount on right side and loosen the bolts on the left side motor mount, jack engine up on right side until you get enough clearance to slide pan out, hopefully your exhaust system will not get in the way to where you have to remove that also.

How hard is it to install oil pan on my 2000 deville, northstar engine

I worked on a 1999 Deville and to remove the oil pan wasn't to bad to change. All I had to do was Jack up the car and support it.Also remove the negative battery terminal.Drain the oil then remove the torque converter cover bolts and then the oil pan bolts and remove the oil pan.On some model Cadillacs there is also an exhaust cross under pipe that also has to be removed.Be sure not to over tighten the oil pan bolts there real hard to get out if you break one.Your going to have to find out how tight they should be because they all very depending on the vehicle. Most all of your auto parts stores have this information.

What all has to be taken off to get to to the oil pan gasket

Oil Pan REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Drain the crankcase.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Negative battery cable
    • Oil level indicator harness connector, if equipped
    • Exhaust Y-pipe, if needed
    • Transaxle assembly from the vehicle.
    • Oil pan bolts and the oil pan
To install: NOTE: The oil pan gasket is reusable unless it is damaged. Do not remove the gasket from the oil pan groove unless gasket replacement is required.
  4. Thoroughly clean the inside of the oil pan and the cylinder block contact surface. If the oil pan gasket is being reused, be careful not to damage it. Do not expose the gasket to cleaning solvents.
  5. If a new gasket is being installed, start the gasket into the oil pan groove and work the gasket into the groove in both directions. Once the gasket is exposed to oil, it will expand and no longer stay in the groove without wrinkles. If this condition exists, replace the gasket.
  6. Install or connect the following:
    • Oil pan. Torque the bolts, in sequence, to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    • Oil level indicator connector, if removed
    • Transaxle assembly, if removed
    • Y-pipe, if removed
    • Flywheel cover, if removed
    • Oil pan drain plug. Torque it to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
    • Negative battery cable
  7. Refill the crankcase.
  8. Run the engine and check for leaks. Fig. 1: Oil pan bolt torque sequence 7922vg08.gif

How to do an oilpan on a 88 chevy montecarlo

  1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
  2. Remove air cleaner.
  3. Remove upper fail shroud (V8)
  4. Raise vehicle and drain oil pan.
  5. Disconnect A.I.R. hose at converter pipe (V8)
  6. Disconnect A.I.R. pipe at exhaust manifold (V8)
  7. Remove exhaust crossover pipe at manifold and converter.
  8. Remove starter.
  9. Remove flywheel cover.
  10. Disconnect transmission oil cooler lines at oil pan.
  11. Remove engine mount 'through' bolts on V8. Loosen right bolt and remove left on V6.

  13. Raise engine.
  14. Remove oil pan.
Installation

  1. Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder case and pan.
  2. Check oil pan gasket for damage; replace if necessary.
  3. Apply a small amount of 1052751 or equivalent to front and rear corners of oil pan.
NOTICE: Only a small amount of sealant is required. Excessive amounts of sealant may cause a problem with proper sealing of oil pan.

  1. Install retaining bolts and torque to 9 N.m (80 lb. in.).
  2. Raise engine, if necessary.
  3. Lower engine, install mount 'through' bolts and torque to 50 lb. ft. (65 N.m).
  4. Install torque converter cover.
  5. Install starter.
  6. Install exhaust crossover pipe at manifold and converter.
  7. Lower vehicle.
  8. Install fan shroud.
  9. Install air cleaner.
  10. Fill crankcase with oil.
  11. Connect battery negative cable, start engine and check for leaks.

Oil Pan Gasket Replacement - How to - GMC Yukon 2000

No big job Really. Just locate your Drain Plug for the Oil. Thepan is right there, Remove the Bolts around the Pan and Remove. You will lose all of your oil so, Have something there to catch it all. Clean it all around the Edges of the Block where the Pan mounts with Degreaser and Make sure that you Scrape the Old Gasket off of Both the Block and the Pan. Run a Thin Bead of Blue ATV Silicone around the Pan Edge, Lay the Gasket on top of this Silicone. Put another Thin line on top of the Gasket and Reinstall. This Silicone is High Temp Silicone and will Seal Very Well. Make sure to put oil Back in the Motor! Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help That I can Get! Thanks!
