First, feel the tightness of your belts. You will have to tighten the new belts to the proper tightness. If they are too tight, they will wear the bearings prematurely. If they are too loose, they will slip.

What are reasons why alternator belt keeps snapping for a 1999 mitsubishi mirage?

Bad alternator bearing is one possibility. Remove belt and spin everything it drives to find binding part. Other possible is poor alignment of driven parts.

How to Install a new Alternator Belt on a 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage?

First take off the negative battery cable, facing the back of the car reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt. If you need to change the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley it holds the adjuster pulley in place . Then you can use the adjuster belt to move the pulley to adjust the belt.

I need to replace the alternator belt on a 2000 mitsubishi mirage i would like a diagram please

If you have limited / no mechanical knowledge leave this to an Auto Technician.

This a relatively easy job.

Undo the alterantor lock nut (12mm ring spanner / socket wrench)
Undo the alternator adjustment bolt almost fully (Either 10mm / 12mm wrench)

Get under the car and loosen the main alterantor bolt using a 14mm wrench. Just loosen enough to move alternator, it is not to be removed.

Pull alterantor forward to slacken belt / remove belt.

Replacement is the opp of the above.

Ensure the MAX. deflection at the middle of the belt is only 12mm (1/2") after all redfitting is done.

Failure to have it this tight will wear it out very quickly!!

Where is the water pump located on a 1999 mitsubishi mirage?

The best bet is is for you to buy a Haynes manual for your car. Try autozone; generally available for around $20.

I am not familar with your specific car/ngine but I am familar with Lits in general. I believe your engine is tranvese mounted which means the fan belts are located on one end of the engine (left or right). The water pump is powered by a fan belt so go to the end with the fan belts. You should have an alternator, power steerring, air conditioning and crank shaft pulley that the belts run on. There should aslo be a pulley for the water pump. use the process of elimination to ID the water pump.
