Inspect and clean IAC valve (idle air control valve), replace if necessary. If IAC is Ok, please provide additional info!! Does your vehicle experience random or repeated hard starts?? Is your "service engine soon" light on?? These vehicles are known for faulty crank position sensor, usual symptoms are: hard starts, random/constant stalls, SES light on, misfire or no start. Some or all symptoms may or may not occur simultaneously.

This is the first time I experienced this with this car, yet, as you mentioned, the "Service Engine Soon" light has been on for all the time we have had the car, since we bought it from a "Lemon Shop". I was told that it could be anything from a gas cap change to a minor (or major) thing of the past. Yet, otherwise, it has run OK, except for the blower not working. ,

Have you checked the fuel pump for any blockage? The car isnt getting any gas unless u manually pump it by pressing the pedal.. So start there
Sometimes when a engine requires excessive revving and throttle to stay afloat its a fuel supply problem. A clogged filter for example can be overcome with excessive throttle that drives the fuel pressure up enough to force it through, but it will barely trickle at idle and stall.

Usually the dead give away for fuel pump is when someone complains they have to floor it as soon as it turns over or it will die right away.

This is usually a problem caused by a bad water temperature sensor. There are usually 2 sensors with one working the temperature gauge and the second working engine controls.

The "cold start" sequence is similar to a choke in old cars. It needs the signal from the water sensor to trigger the cold start sequence. The cold start sequence enriches the fuel charge, adjusts timing, and increases idle speed until the engine gets a little warm.

Now if stalling when warm, you have other issues. Manifold runners are a problem on some engines.

water in fuel. put some water remover or gas line antifreeze in and keep tank full. the reason its worse after sitting is because the water sinks to bottom of tank and then the car is trying to run on just water. after driving it mixes with fuel

Jeep dies when you let of gas

Check/replace the Idle Air Control Valve, located on the intake manifold. It is likely sticking or otherwise not operating correctly.

Also, check for vacuum leaks.
