A few weeks ago the steering in my toyota got very tight-almost like no power steering-the fluid level is fine.It is getting hard to steer.could this be a power steering pump problem?
Yes , i am sure you checked for leaks on the rack at the boots on both ends near the wheels. if none try adding a power steering conditioner to the pump . drain the fliud from the reservoir first by taking off one of the hoses the more conditioner the better. this may not work but it is an easy and cheap way first. there is also a relief valve in many pumps that might be stuck not allowing pressure to build.
I had the same problem. The steering fluid is getting too hot. The fluid is cooled by the radiator fan system. The fan is stuck. Squirt some oil in the hub area of the fan shaft and this will free up your fan. Keep an eye on this fan as your motor will over heat if this fan remains stuck.
Yes it could be pmp or the belt glazed or loose
If only loosened belt then you should be hearing those squeecking noise. if there are leaks at the end of racks then it should not be a heavy steering too. its a good chance its your pump.
