AQny power at all? Turn on headlights. Are they on? Yes/no.
Yes: Try to start the engine. Does it turn over on the starter? Or do the lights go out? If no cranking and no lights, check the battery terminals for correct contact, remove and clean/ refit as necessary 'til engine WILL crank (assuming battery has good charge).
No: Same with battery terminals. Try again.
That you can't even get it from park: With the ignition turned on? Look at the battery connections for this, once again. Without power, transmissions cannot be shifted.

For Hilux 2kd ftv for Fuel & temperature gauges work on cluster but then during kik start on the vehicle it does not work goes off. Any trouble shooting on this?

tbe starter motor is key crank started ,never kicked, like old motorcycles.
we can not guess year car. nor country or but yes
2.5 L 2KD-FTV (China)
china engine.
first off, how to start a car.
  1. head lamps and dash blower not dead or weak.
  2. turn key to Start, and crank the starter motor of engine.
  3. if starter is dead, or clicks/chatters, the battery is dead
  4. if battery is dead we jumper cable start the engine,
  5. do not connect cables backwards or BOOM. $$$$
  6. if starter is dead still, shift to Neutral from DRIVE PRNDL
  7. if that works the PRNDL switch is bad, (park side only)
  8. if manual transmission (not told) the bad clutch pedal switch will in fact defeat the starter motor from turning at all.
  9. if starter does spin and crank say so and if engine stalls in 1 to 10 seconds the IMMO lamp glowing is the cause.
tell what the starter motor does first.??? not told.
just vague kik thing.
the starter goes GRRRRRGGGRRR real loud and crank shaft on the engine spins real fast even 300RPM fast and then engine starts.
my jeep I can start 3 ways
  • normal. (key to ST position)
  • push started,key on, or
  • or hill gravity started it is a wonderful manual gear box.
manual boxes are prime grade options.

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE no power to certain fuses and circuit fuses are good car cranks but won't start

double posted and tests DONE WRONG
the battery must not be dead is first
and not testing fuse, with KEY on,
1;/2 the fuses are dead KEY off that is 100% Normal.
key on does IP cluster glow lamps as it did just like it did for 13 years?
head lamps bright key on an off both, (it must)
heater blower on high, works loud ,key on,
is the starter motor dead/? called cranking,?????????????

you said new crank , I'm sure you meant a new starter motor>?
is the starter dead? now? if yes post how to test a dead starter.
starters fail in many ways.
  • dead
  • chatters.
  • clicks,
  • makes a HUGE nasty loud bang, (engine or it seized)
  • or starter spins fast (sounds like sewing machined) but engine cranks shaft never spins (turns ) starter pinon failure.
or starter goes GRRRRRGRRRRRR and crank shaft spins but does not start.(seen and heard)

a dead starter with a good battery (charged) may crank
if you learn to crank it in NEUTRAL. (auto tranny?)
does starter work , JUMPER cable jump started?????
crank in park then try Neutral.
on stick shift cars the clutch switch bad kills cranking.

I have a 2004 ford ranger edge 3.0 it won't turn over

auto transmission or STICK???????????????\
all fuses test good?
what does turn over mean to you?
there are 3 answers
the starter spins all by itself and turns over,
if lucky the stater can even turn over the cranks shaft, called actual cranking over .
we say it will not crank or it does.
or we say
the starter cranks fast and he engine and will not start and run
or it may start for 3 second and stall ( a classic IMMO trick)

if the starter spins the engine robustly and fast why the new battery>
must be a no crank engine,(silent starter.,clicks or chatters or sound like bombb under hood a huge giant BANG< a seized engine,.
this is 10x more easy than a dead engine for sure.

  1. :battery drained. so charge it.
  2. battery load tests and charges fail the battery is bad
  3. so battery new ,failed to help cranking. sorry I cant hear it. sure.
  4. crank not in failing Park but now in Neutral , works?
  5. ok all that fails. must be bad starter. WE HOT WIRE TEST THEM.
  6. some rare cars the IMMO even cuts starter dead, not just spark/fuel. so is the IMMO happy light glowing or not.

FUSES GOOD
iMMO LAMP NOT ANGRY, (FAILING)
SCAN pCU, SEE IF THERE SAY BATTERY ERRORS ETC. DTC CODES.?
CRANK IN neutral not just park.
HOT WIRE THE STARTER.
JUMPER CABLE CRANKING WORK.?

OK FOUND IT YOU DID DOING ALL THAT.

I have a 1998 Legnum VR4 Twin turbo, car sometimes has no crank no start problems, but after a few attempts car starts. I'm thinking ignition switch maybe?

1998 Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 -station wagon body Generation 8, none USA
no that be last to expect.(key switch) unless IMMO Is unhappy.
starter motor dead.? or stater motor cranks fast, but engine will not start and run and sustain running?,
or engine starts and stalls.? fast?
NO Crank always cause no start, NO crank means the starter motor is dead, a dead silent or clicks or chatters. only.

no crank, steps:(at the fail)
1: check that PRNDL, , shift lever for Park and for Neutral cranking.
2; step of foot brake, shift to N, and crank.with key.? cured?
3: if this fails, make sure head lamps are bright . (key on or off)
4: make sure both battery cables 4 end logs rust free and tight.
5: try jumper cable starts, (off 2nd running car)
6: replace starter relay?
7: key switch failure is last , big job, so last, or learn to test it easy wit a voltmeter.
there are other causes.(alarms that kill CRANK mode)
IMMO on the car, that does same, (has a lamp to tell you its failing)
or Remote start options or worse addon , failing?
more other causes
the main battery can be intermittent as can the Alternator.

my guess you are here? wiki said it and cars not the same on earth.

2001 Blazer Got in tried to start and the motor cranked. Did not start, tried to crank again and the motor would not even crank. All the fuses are good. Battery not dead just acts like a dead short.

this may help remove the starter and go to your auto parts to run a test also check battery connection must be tight at all times also run a fuel pump preasure test check if there is any spark coming from the coils check fuel pump relay and the final your engine lock.

My 2005 auto 535d wont start or even turn over at all, the battery is charged and all the dash/lights etc come on although we did discover a pool of water in the battery tray (is this common?) but this...

Hi the problem your having is going to be with the starter motor if when you turn the key the cars engine dont turn over at all you might here a faint clicking sound as you try turning the key to start the car, if the car is totally dead and the battery is good then this indicates that the starter motor is at fault.

You could try giving the starter motor a few hard hits with an hammer this often frees up the starter allowing you to start the car but it might take a few hard hits just to get it working this is not a permanent fix doing this it might get the car started but after a while the problem will come back so replacing the starter is the only long term option.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

Probably the battery. Take it the chain auto parts place and they will test it for you.

I installed a brand new battery and checked all the grounds. it worked long enough for me to turn the engine over. then the starter started clicking as if it were dead. i know the battery is fully charged....

Check the rectifier, its job is to charge the battery whenever the engine is running, however seems to be doing the opposite. Get it repaired or replaced, unless u have plans to junk the vehicle...........sodeep
