I have a 1998 chevy 1 ton 3500 4x4, 7.4 454 big block. replaced the starter and key ignition and my fuel pump works i start the truck and it runs for a second and dies as i let off the key to start it

Check to see if the coil is getting current when key is in "ON" position. There may be a separate circuit that provides current when cranking.

Oil pressure guage on a 96 chevy truck

sounds like you still have a wire harness problem for the oil pressure sending unit. if you spliced a new pigtail to the wire harness you may still have a bad connection or there is still a damaged wire farther up in the harness.
