04 pacifica wont start brake pedal is stiff.

The brake pedal will be stiff if the vehicle isn't running , power brakes only work when running , that is if it has vacuum brake booster . Won't start how ? When you turn the key to start does the starter spin the engine around ? Or nothing happens ? Does the vehicle have a anti-theft system light lit solid or flashing ?

How do you get the steering wheel lock off 2001 Aztec 3.4 litre with anti theft light flashing

If the ignition switch and key are ok. The steering wheel lock can be easily disengaged by rocking the steering wheel back and forth and at the same time. Try to rotate the ignition from run to start. If the anti-theft light is flashing there should be an active fault within the security system. GM has a sensitive ignition switch you are not suppose to hang anything from the ignition key. The weight can damage the halo (part of the anti-theft system). Please write back and give me an idea of what you are looking for and how you want to proceed. Good Luck.

2002 chevy cavalier wont shift out of park unless I pull the bcm fuse

The shifter release solenoid is activated by the brake light switch. Check to see if the brake lights are working when you press the brake pedal. If not, that may be the reason why the shifter won't come out of park. You may need to replace or adjust the brake light switch. (It's located at the top of the brake pedal arm).

97 f150 4.6 wont start after it stalled due to the ac pump seizing up and causeing the engine to stall

Possible anti theft but I think that you have a blown fuse go to ford owners manual.com and register for free then download the manual then go to roadside emergencies and your fuse box diagrams and values for ignition and fuel pump as well as others //// when you put the key in does the pats system light start to rapidly flash or does it go out while cranking if rapidly the anti theft is activated or somehow your key was erased check PCM fuse ignition fuel pump coils injectors

2004 ford explorer will not turn over with key but remote starter switch makes it turn over

Its a good possibility that the Anti-theft is interferring with the circuit. If you have an extra ignition key, use that in case the password chip in your regular FOB has detriorated.

There is a brake sensor which is on the upper brake pedal. It interlocks with the starter to prevent starting without having your foot on the brake pedal. Check your brake lights for operation. If the brake lights stay dark with your foot on the pedal, the switch is broke or knocked out of position. A common problem.

Next, there are small wires for the starter solenoid. You can use a test light on one removed wire and ground the test light to the vehicle, the other end in the small wire. Turn the keyswitch to start, with brake pedal pressed and see if it lights up. If it does light up, the starter solenoid may be bad.

Battery level. Ford Anti-theft and some say Battery-saver, can cause both starting and charging problems. A fully charged battery can be at 13.2V- 13.6V. When Ford systems detect low voltage it can activate the Anti-theft, battery-saver, and even disconnect the charging system to allow the battery to completely drain. In some cases the Anti-theft drops starter voltage to around 7V so the starter will not spin. Have the battery tested.

I know of 2004 trucks that were jump started and showed charging, then after 5-10 minutes they lost the charging system. Some people lost the charging system at 70MPH and drove until they stalled. All because of the automatic features built into the trucks. A new battery fixed the problem. Your problem could stem from this.

Replaced the alternator, now anti theft won't disable

The ignition lock anti-theft switch (19A438) detects if the ignition key cylinder is broken or "slam pulled" during a theft. The ignition lock anti-theft switch is always monitored by the remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module. This allows the alarm system to be triggered in the case that the ignition lock anti-theft switch detects tampering of the ignition key cylinder (even in the event that the alarm is not active at the time).
Refer to the Section 501-14B for more details on the keyless entry remote transmitter (15K601).
The door open warning lamp switch (14018) communicates to the RAP module through the generic electronic module (GEM). This input to the RAP will cause the anti-theft alarm to be sounded if the anti-theft alarm was armed.
The door disarm switches are assembled into both LH and RH lock sets. The door disarm switch must be triggered before the mechanical lock unlocks. This is to prevent the anti-theft alarm from activating when it should have been disarmed.
The RAP module controls the anti-theft system and is the brains of the keyless entry system. The RAP module communicates with the GEM to request that the interior lights be turned ON/OFF with use of the keyless entry remote transmitter, and the GEM communicates to the RAP to inform when the door is opened. Refer to Section 418-00 for inter-module communication.
The RAP module has three wire connectors attached to it:
  • The antenna for the keyless entry remote transmitter.
  • 26 circuit connector (C256).
  • 22 circuit connector (C257).
In addition to the perimeter alarm that uses the door open warning lamp switch, the RAP module also uses the ignition lock anti-theft switch and the autolock/relock feature to prevent theft of the vehicle. For a full description of the autolock/relock system, refer to Section 501-14B .
The THEFT LED is found on the instrument panel between the tachometer scale and the needle pivot point. The LED is illuminated during prearming and flashes when armed or triggered.
Prearming and Arming the System
The system can be armed if:
  • The ignition is OFF.
  • The PANIC alarm is OFF.
  • All doors are closed.
There are two ways to prearm the system:
  • Press the LOCK button on the transmitter.
  • Open a door, press the power door lock button and close the door.
After 30 seconds the system will be armed and the theft indicator in the cluster will flash every two seconds.
Disarming an Untriggered System
An armed system will be disarmed with one of these valid actions:
  1. Pressing the UNLOCK button on the transmitter.
  1. Placing a key in the door and turning to UNLOCK.
  1. Turning the key to RUN or ACC.
The anti-theft alarm can be triggered by the following conditions:
  • The ignition cylinder is damaged with or without the RAP being armed.
  • A door is opened without disarming the armed RAP module.
The remote transmitter can activate a panic alarm which is similar to an anti-theft alarm, but does not deactivate the starter or cause the theft indicator to flash.
Disarming a Triggered System
If the system has been triggered, (the horn honks, the lights flash, and an external starter interrupt relay is engaged), the system can be disarmed by:
  1. Pressing the UNLOCK or PANIC button on the transmitter.
  1. Putting a key in the door and unlocking the door.
  1. Turning the ignition to RUN/ACC (Turning the key to RUN/ACC will not disarm an alarm that has been triggered by the ignition lock anti-theft switch.).

Anti-theft system seems to have been activated?

Some months ago I began starting the engine of my 2001 Chrysler 300M but turned it of before it really started "was sloppy with the key". The anti-theft system went on for some unknown reason. I disarmed it by disconnecting one of the battery connections under the hood with a wrench. I connected it again, the anti-theft system was off but the battery was dead. Battery was OK after recharging, I have had no trouble since then.
