My new belt wont stay tight and i have all new pulleys, whats my problem

Recheck the routing of the belt because if you go the wrong way around a pulley the belt will be too long. Remember that with multi- groove pulleys the back of the belt goes around the idler pulley and the grooves go in the groves of the pulleys to be driven

Replace fan belts

When replacing fan belts, route the new belt through the pulleys so that it uses the exact same path as the old belt. You may need to loosen the belt tensioner a little bit more in order to slip the new belt onto the final pulley.-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anybody have a diagram and/or instructions for changing the serpentine belt on a 1998 celica?

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

See Figures 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16
If a belt must be replaced, the driven unit must be loosened and moved to its extreme loosest position, generally by moving it toward the center of the motor. After removing the old belt, check the pulleys for dirt or built-up material which could affect belt contact. Carefully install the new belt, remembering that it is new and unused - it may appear to be just a little too small to fit over the pulley flanges. Fit the belt over the largest pulley (usually the crankshaft pulley at the bottom center of the motor) first, then work on the smaller one(s). Gentle pressure in the direction of rotation is helpful. Some belts run around a third or idler pulley, which acts as an additional pivot in the belt's path. It may be possible to loosen the idler pulley as well as the main component, making your job much easier. Depending on which belt(s) you are changing, it may be necessary to loosen or remove other interfering belts to get at the one(s) you want.

When buying replacement belts, remember that the fit is critical according to the length of the belt, the width of the belt, the depth of the belt and the angle or profile of the V shape (always match up old belt with new belt if possible). The belt shape should exactly match the shape of the pulley; belts that are not an exact match can cause noise, slippage and premature failure.
After the new belt is installed, draw tension on it by moving the driven unit away from the motor and tighten its mounting bolts. This is sometimes a three- or four-handed job; you may find an assistant helpful. Make sure that all the bolts you loosened get retightened and that any other loosened belts also have the correct tension. A new belt can be expected to stretch a bit after installation so be prepared to re-adjust your new belt.
After installing a new belt, run the engine for about 5 minutes and then recheck the belt tension.

How do I replace the serpentine belt on a 1999 Kia Sephia?

1.8L Engine
  1. Using a belt tension gauge, measure the drive belt tension and compare with the following specifications:
    1. Alternator belt (new): 86-103 lbs. (383-461 N)
    2. Alternator belt (used): 68-86 lbs. (304-383 N)
    3. A/C compressor and power steering pump belt (new): 110-132 lbs (491-589 N)
    4. A/C compressor and power steering pump belt (used): 95-110 lbs. (422-491 N)

Fig. Using a tension gauge to measure the alternator belt tension - 1.8L engines (click HERE for zoom)

  2. Using the deflection method, apply moderate pressure (about 22 lbs) halfway between the pulleys, and compare with the following specifications.
    1. Alternator belt (new): 0.31-0.35 in. (8-9mm)
    2. Alternator belt (used): 0.35-0.39 in. (9-10mm)
    3. A/C compressor and power steering pump belt (new): 0.31-0.35 in. (8-9mm)
    4. A/C compressor and power steering pump belt (used): 0.35-0.39 in. (9-10mm)
  3. If the specifications fall outside the ranges given, adjust the belt as follows:
    1. Loosen the alternator mounting bolt and adjusting bolt.
    2. Adjust the alternator to get the specified belt deflection.
    3. Tighten the bolts, then recheck the tension.

New Serpentine Belt Causes Squeeling. Added gobs of belt dressing, still squeels. Old belt was only half a belt--totally worn out. New belt is therefore tighter and putting more force on pulleys. Do I...

Take off the new belt ... toss it ... get a new belt ... before you put it on ... clean all the pulleys twice ... final cleaning should be alcohol.

Change serpentine belt on 06 sienna

  1. 1 Check to ensure the Sienna's engine is cold, then make sure the Sienna is in park, the ignition is in the off position and the key is removed from the ignition to prevent any possibility of the engine engaging during the serpentine belt replacement.
  2. 2 Open the hood and locate the serpentine belt routing diagram sticker on the side of the engine casing. Study it for a moment before removing the existing belt. It is essential the new belt be installed exactly as the diagram indicates.
  3. 3 Find the tensioner pulley, the main pulley that controls the serpentine belt, and fit a 1/2-inch socket wrench over the self-tensioner on the outside of the pulley.
  4. 4 Pull the wrench to the left to move the pulley forward, which loosens the belt, then remove the belt.
  5. 5 Compare the old serpentine belt with the new, replacement belt for length, width and number of grooves on the belt's underside. Be certain the replacement belt is the right part.
  6. 6 Fit the new belt on to each pulley according to the serpentine belt routing diagram on the manufacturer's sticker, or according to the drawing made prior to removing the old belt. Fit the new belt on to the tensioner pulley last, again applying pressure on the pulley's self-tensioner with the half-inch socket wrench to loosen the pulley.
  7. 7 Release the pressure on the self tensioner and allow the tensioner pulley to ease back into place, thereby tightening the new serpentine belt with the appropriate tension.
  8. 8 Remove the wrench and close the hood.
Thank you and good luck,
Lee

Retractable seat belt wont close

Is this a NEW seat belt?  Or a junkyard part... Per the Toyota 1988 Repair Manual - the belt is allowed to be pulled out at a tile of 15 degrees or less; and cannot be pulled out at over 45 degrees of tilt.

Your problem is the belt is not retracting.  The manual states to replace the assembly.  It also states: "Whenver installing a new belt assembly, verify proper operation before installation."

If a new part does not have proper operation; have it replaced. If this is a 'used'  new part - get a NEW seat belt.
