Adjusting idling on a vista 3fse D4 on the throttlebody there are two sensors the mass sensor on the front and throttle sensor in rear,thr throttle sensor is secured by two Phillips screws, untighen them to make the sensor loose to adjust. NB do not adjust the sensor whilst the car is running. Adjust and test to see if it runs constantly at 800rpm that's it switch off tighten and youre done

Can you change the fuel pressure sensor which is located at the left rear side of the engine just slightly above the power steering then do a reset of the computer box the check should go

What's the number of teeth on the timing belt for 3s-fse engine

I know, , experience talks.
we buy new belt and the clerk gabs abox
1: wrong belt in box, last customer returned it like that.
2: clerk gave you wrong box used wrong engine table(GATES)
3: you told clear wrong and he did it wrong.
4: learn that some engines even same 1.6L displacement had 2 head types that year. or series of years.
my car here, has 3 belts sold for it, 2 are wrong, per above.
no belt brand told just 164 code (gates?)

OP never told it is a toyota , nor the year, wow no year.
3s-fse =1987 to 2000 year made. no car model told what can go wrong, answer ALL. that.
DOHC engine 2 cams. CR = 9.8 (3S-FC, 3S-FE, 3S-FSE)
2.0L engine 1,998 cc, 121.93 cu-in
step one make sure both belts new and used, laid top of each other have same number of teeth and pitch. (viewed) if not WRONG belt.
OOPS? (the new belt can be touch tighter.,old belt stretched be longer or even a wreck)
some models have VVT, in the head and may change the T belt USED, no car told no year, no VVT told.

the key factor is engine RPM
if it rises, but not speed, that is trans./clutch slip
if no rpm rise that is weak engine , BUT IS THE RED BEAM.?

1: NEVER TUNED UP. BAD SPARK CLOGGED FILTES X2
2: ENGINE ecu stuck in limphome, scan it, see errors, BINGO
3: engine misfiring, cause by low compression, weak spark or bad fueling (too rich or too lean) many tests, ask.
4: low fuel pressure or regulator not regulation per FsM PAGE
5:STUCK OPEN egr main valve (missing in some countries)
6: melted cat converter , vacuum gage reads real bad,
7: and more, i charge more for more, LOL vvt?

3s-fse engine rattle

As a start, have the oil pressure measured. It should be about 10psi per 1000 RPM. If it seems low, the bottom end bearings are indeed suspect. The next step is to drop the sump pan, not a terrible job, and inspect these bearings.
