If you are talking about just plugging into the speed sensor yes. A VTEC and NON-VTEC are one and the same.

SOURCE: wiring harness for a 91 accord into a h22

That depends on what motor your accord came with, If was the f22 it does work but requires some mods. Providing that the vechile you are installing it in is OBD1 also.

My 1998 honda accord 2.3 liter vtec wont spark

Check Distributor cap and rotor for wear or cracks, pay special attention to the center point where the coil wire is, it must be clean and make good contact.

Will a 1993 prelude automatic transmission fit my 1992 honda accord

If it's the S model, it *should* as it has a F22 motor in it.. the Si and SE has a H23 motor, and the VTEC has a H22 motor. I have heard of people using the F22 transmission on a Prelude motor for longer gearing at highway speeds (per Honda-Tech.com), but I haven't tried the combination myself

I am getting a used engine because my h23a1 blew, I was wondering if there are any components I should replace during this process.

ok so hear me out, DO NOT! i repeat, NOT buy a h23... honda stopped making this motor completely in 97 these are the worst motors in the world! i know, your rod bearing blew, I KNOW! ive donr 30 of them. Buy an h22 swap for your car... or just the motor.. everything bolts up the same...then if you wan the performance wire up the vtec... 92-96 preludes came with the option of an h22... if you could find one out of your year model and not out of a 97 up, that would be best so all your vaccum lines are the same... youll have to use the h22 harness and ecu.. if its standard, you need to use a standard h22 harness, if its automatic, use an auto harness
hope this helps
replace the motor mounts that are bad

My 1994 Honda Accord LX engine cut out while driving on highway. I have found no spark at plugs, distributor or coils. Fuses all look good. I "tested" the main relay by watching the check...

The ecm receives a signal from the crankshaft position sensor and sends timing signals to the ignition control module, whick fires the coil. The problem can be the crank sensor or the control module. The crank sensor is inside the distributor. I have pasted a test procedure below to help you troubleshoot.
1994-95 ACCORD EXCEPT V-6
See Figures 8 and 9
Remove the distributor cap, rotor and the inner cover.Disconnect the wires from the igniter.Check for voltage between the black/yellow wire and ground. Battery voltage should be present with the ignition ON . If voltage is not present, check the black/yellow wire between the ignition switch and the igniter.

Fig. Fig. 8: Terminal identification on engines without VTEC
Check for voltage between the green wire ("BLU 2" on VTEC) and ground. Battery voltage should be present with the ignition ON . If voltage is not present, check the ignition coil and the green ("BLU 2" on VTEC) wire between the ignition coil and the igniter.

Fig. Fig. 9: Terminal identification on VTEC engines
Turn the ignition switch OFF .Check the yellow/green wire between the engine control module and the igniter for continuity. Then check the BLU 1 wire between the tachometer and the igniter for continuity. If the wiring is OK and a problem still exists, the igniter is probably at fault.

What other engine will fit a 97 civic ex?

The 96-98 Civic EX came with an OBD2A D16Y8 engine. That is the only engine that will go in as a direct replacement with your current engine ECU. It's an SOHC VTEC engine that has two extra connections not found on the other 96-98 Civic engines - a VTEC solenoid and a special oil sensor used to determine if VTEC engagement is possible. If you swap in an older Civic engine (92-95 generation) you'll have to convert the car to OBD1 (requires a special adapter hardness) and run the ECU that goes with whatever engine you use. This will break functionality of your OBD2 diagnostics port, and depending on which state you live in will cause you to fail emissions checks. If you install a D16Y8 engine from a 99-00 Civic EX, you will have to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds from your old engine to the new engine, and you will be able to continue to run your existing OBD2A wiring and ECU. The 99-00 Civic EX engines have additional sensors, since those engines are OBD2B. The easiest fix would be to find a SOHC VTEC D16Y8 from a 96-98 Civic EX, as it would be a direct plug and play replacement.

Does a h22 motor just drop in a 91 accord , is there anything i should know

You will need to know if is a h22a or h22a4. The h22a has the kind of fuel injectors that you'll need with your current set up. Also, you'll need the ECU. If you are putting a 95 or newer h22a in the car then you'll need a P13ecu to run the Vtec. You'll also need to run power to the vtec solenoid on the h22. If you're using a 96 or new Prelude engine it will be OBD2, your current wiring is OBD1. Your best bet is to get a 92 thru 95 H22a only.
