On the drivers side fuel rail there is a shrader valve port with a blue cap, touch the shrader valve and see if gas squirts out, you may get a little to begin with, the crank the car and test is again, if you have nothing the second time then you are either out of gas or the fuel pump has failed.
If you have fuel then the car could be flooded, this is a common issue with the early Jaguar v8's.
You would need to crank the car and half accelerate, then slowly push the pedal all the way (which shuts off the fuel believe it or not) then back to half way, keep fluttering the pedal and you can usually get it to run, but be careful as it will smoke once running.
There is usually not an issue with spark on these cars, the crank sensors never fail.
If your 1997 or later XK8 turns over but won't start - check the voltage level on the gauge in the dash. If during cranking the volatge drops below approx. 10v the car will not start as the electronics, ECU and relays, etc do not get activated below that voltage. Replace your battery with a new rated at least 850+ cold cranking amps battery.
