NEED TO REPLACE THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE - 2001 Toyota Camry

if you can not get to the handle at all you will need to go from the inside. if that is the case try and pry the top of the door panel off without distorting the panel. then with a flash light look down inside the door and you should see a metal rod, try pulling the rod up or down which should open the door! hope this helps

Remove the inner door panel and make sure the actuator rod for the exterior handle is still engaged. If it is then the handle itself needs to be replaced.

take off door panels and get your hand inside. philips head and 8mm socket

You need to remove the inside door panel to see if the exterior handle broke or if the linkage fell off

you will need to get the door panel off the inside,undo the linkages and the remove the nuts holding the handle on.

Two 10mm bolts, or nuts, hold the handle on from inside the door. dont forget to remove actuating rod from old handle. probably clip is broke also.

1. Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .

1. Position the watershield aside.

1. NOTE: The tie strap does not need to be reinstalled.
   If equipped, remove the tie strap from the anti-theft guard.

1. Remove the screws and position the anti-theft guard aside.

1. Release the clip and disconnect the exterior door handle actuating rod.

1. Remove the anti-theft guard.

1. Remove the exterior door handle screw.

1. Remove the exterior handle actuating rod.

1. Remove the exterior door handle lock cylinder cover.

1. Remove the exterior door handle.

You will need to remove the door panel to gain access to the handle. Roll the window up or down as needed to get to the nuts that attach the handle to the door. You will also need to remove a rod the goes to the door lock. You will see the rod after the door panel is removed. Good luck.

ok. first u remove the door panel(s), with the window rolled up, u will be able to see the back side of the exterior door handle. there will be three bolts, they are size 10metric. there is also a rod attached to the handle held in place by a plastic clip, remove the rod, then remove the three bolts. from the outside remove the exterior door handle being careful not to scratch painted surface. Repeat for the other door(s). Repeat this for installation.

remove door panel.. inside door you will see a rod going to the handle..on the end is a clip ..push the clip up off the rod .slide the rod out..remove 2 ..13mm nuts from handle ..remove handle
