Have your car plugged in for fault codes, I suspect you have a turbo fault, maybe just an actuator or waste gate fault, but code reader will identify

  • Anonymous Oct 26, 2010

The code reader will only show turbo in limp mode. Could be 1 of 4 issues with the worst being a seized waste gate actuator which is attached to the turbo, and this will cost you over $1,500 to have repaired. Mine goes into the garage on Thursday (not a VW garage) I let you know how they fixed mine.

1st and 5th gear jumps out of it's position. Revers gear do's not engage gear from time to time

if this is a manual gearbox then its the indent springs in the selector rod movement inside the gearbox and this will involve removing the gearbox if i have correctly located the fault ,but without the make and model of vehicle i cannot say for certain as it could be the gearchange mechanism movement inside the cars cab and if tis cable then a outer sheaf on a cable could be loose and come out of its crimped holder

I have a 96 Jetta that is stuck in 1st gear. The linkage cable is working but the car wont go outta 1st!

The transmission is shifted with a computer. The computer needs input signals in order to make a shift decision, There are three speed sensors (input, output, and vehicle speed) that must work for a shift to be comanded. I wouldrecomend you sheck for stored codes and check the vehicle speed sensor. Is the speedo working?
