SOURCE: isuzu trooper problem!with a 00 3 litre diesel engine not starting

Was it lined up right as the trigger point for the sensor is important. Is the fly wheel fitted one position only that the bolt holes line up or will it fit no matter which position it bolts up Line up the flywheel trigger with the sensor after you have put the engine to Top Dead Centre.Put at tdc and see if the trigger and sensor are together.

hi guys i would check all the small vacume pipes that conect the sol valves toi the vacume actuators having just replaced the engen in mine i found that these do not have any clips holiding them on tight and can get oil on them and become oversized and leak you can test the diaframes in the actuators by putting a length of pipe on one port and sucking by mouth you can hear the actuator move and then find you can put toung on end of pipe and it will hold a vacume if it does not then chances are the actuator diafram id u/s hope this helps bill

Isuzu rodeo front axle acutator has power going to both switches

got this.?>
The 1996 Trooper and Rodeo models were available with a shift-on-the-fly system,

SOF
which incorporates an assembly mounted on the left-hand side of the front axle unit.
the shift-on-the-fly unit includes a housing, an actuator assembly and various Vacuum Switching Valves (VSV).
here it is, SOF.
if the right switch is 12vdc on both pins
then the relay closes, does it?
if it closed the 2 VSV both go HOT,12v. brown-blk wire.
do they?
the left switch below is only for the silly dash light.
then there is the vacuum side.... more details....

I can feel my trooper shift into 4x4 but I'm not

I had this happen on my 94 automatic. 4x4 "engages" but no power to front wheels. One of the front axles went bad so the 4x4 doesn't engage on either front wheel. It was a $800 fix.

I have flashing 4wd light but no engagement on my 98' Trooper. I took the vacuum actuator off and tested to see if it is stuck. It wasn't. If I applied vacuum to the blue it stayed in normal position and...

You can check the continuity of the VSV assembly units you are working with (what you are referring to as blue and white).

Inspection (1) - Remove the connector, shift transfer lever to 2H and start the engine. Make sure there is continuity in the vehicle side of the harness. If there is none, check the transfer shift switch and wiring.

Inspection (2) - Inspect both VSV units as follows:
A) With battery not connected
Measure A-C for continuity, B is closed
B) With battery connected
Measure A-B for continuity, C is closed.

If either A) or B) fail, replace the VSV unit.

91 trooper stuck in neutral

possible range selection detent switch not working causing to get stuck some times in one range only and wont shift to other range 4wd light in dash just keeps flashing for about 10 seconds then goes to previous state this then can jam up 2wd 4wd lever that you then cannot move.
there are 3 switches 2 on trans/transferr case, 1 on front LH diff axle tube actuator (shift on fly). can cause damge to the electric actuator then on transferr case.
suggest you get a dealer to look at or some one that knows this system. is also vaccum operated on front diff shift on fly unit and there were 2 different systems fitted to these vehicles push button 4wd on dash and lever next to gear lever which i take is yours

We have a 1998 Trooper that had the same problem. The fix was an electronic switch for the 4WD - a vacuum sensor - on the front axle that just plugs in. You can see it - if you look under the car from the front, it's mounted in the middle of the front axle. It cost $175 from the dealer. We had somebody install it for $50. Don't know where you live, but they are exposed and can corrode. That's what happened to ours. Good luck - hope it's the same problem. This was an easy fix, and we were pleased.
