Engine immobiliser has been activated, now my car wont turn over what do i need to do to rectify the problem?
Our problem was very simpy solved in the end. With all doors shut we were told to lock and unlock the car with the remote about 7 times. This re-set the immobiliser and the car started!
My car seems to have same problem. It's in the shop right now, as a matter of fact. First, they recommended the fuel pump be changed. Since that cost is so high, I asked that they replace the antenna ring in the ignition as a possible and cheaper hope of fixing it. Another mechanic from Volvo dealership in nearby county claimed this fixes the problem 98% of the time whenever he has these years in with these same problems. I've asked them to do so and am waiting to hear the results. I'll let you know then.
Well, they called back and said no that didn't help. So, I suppose it's the fuel filter. Can't think of anything else to do... I will reply then with how the fix goes... Thought it might have also been the fuel pressure sensor as this can cause similar problems, (there is a recall out for the 03, but they said it didn't apply to my vin). So $882.00 later- I let you know...
Meant to say fuel pump... sorry. That's what is to be replaced next...
