check engine light either flashes or steading on. Also engine is running rough and sucking up gas. It appears white smoke coming from the tail pipes too and a strong oder of gas. I drove the car 5 mile and it took 1/4 tank of gas. Any clues?

The light is turned on by the emission system. Go the nerest autozone an have the check the codes and reset it. It could be as simple as the gas cap is loose.

Before check engine light was always on. But the car ran fine. Recently the check engine light would only flash occasionally. Now my car turns over but engine doesn't fire. The check engine light doesn't...

There are plenty reasons for the check engine to come, from fuel system malfunction to timing belt sensor, you need to get the car somehow to a garage and perform a diagnostics test, that will tell you what is wrong.

How to replace the thermostat on a 2002 chrysler concorde lx 2.7 engine size

The Thermostat is under the connector for the upper radiator hose on the Engine. Trace the upper Radiator hose back to the engine and remove the 2 to 3 bolts holding the engine mounting to the engine. The thermostat is under that. If you don't have the thermostat already you can remove it and replace the cover and drive to the Auto parts store and purchase it then drive back and put the new part in after the engine cools. If you are replacing this because of over heating doing this will tell you if that was truly the problem or if the problem was actually the water pump. Using the vehicle over short distances without the thermostat will not damage your engine in the summer months. It is mainly there for winter months to let the engine warm up before the cooling fluid starts flowing anyway. Heck, I have one vehicle that hasn't had a thermostat in it for 2 years now. Runs great.

Check engine light

you were told your vehicle has small/large evap leak detected? The leak could be coming from any number of components. Fuel tank seal, evap purge valve, check valve. The best way is to find the leak with a smoke machine. It is designed to find leaks in the evap system. There is a port with a green cap in the engine compartment. This is where the hose from the machine attaches to. Turn machine on. Where ever you see smoke, this is where the leak is.
