Noise while turning when accelerating

When i turn a corner while accelerating a clicking noise comes from my front wheel , can u help please

  • Anonymous Nov 15, 2008

Hoq long is practical to drive around like this? Halfshafts are expensive. I won't take my car to a shop because I do all the work myself, but looking for what EXACTLY causes the noise itself. Also how long I can drive around like this if I take it easy. I'm used to more spirited driving but can take it easy. driveaxles are EXPENSIVE, and I simply won't have the $$ untl tax time.

If you haven't already by now, have a mechanic check your CV joint.

You have a bad drive shaft, take it to a " trusted " repair shop.
the drive shaft is the arm that is connected to the tire " behind " and is in the middle " connects the center of the tire "

SOURCE: noise while turning when accelerating

Probably a, or both front CV (constantly variable) joints in the front half-shafts (the driveshafts that run from your transmission to both your front wheels) are going bad. Not a too uncommon problem. They run about 150-160$ Canadian dollars a piece for remanufactured front shafts (from NAPA Auto Parts). Not too sure about labour cost, could be a few hundred dollars.

Why do I hear grinding noises while driving?

Hit in the rear axle may have damaged bearings or brake parts. Jack up the side you hear noise from, put on stand, then have helper rotate wheel while you look underneath and listen to see where noise is coming from. Use length of old fuel or heater hose, one end in ear, to locate exactly where noise comes from.

Clicking noise front wheel drivers side speeding up and getting louder when I accelerate and slowing down

Clicking noise from front end indicates a failing CV joint . It happens as the out of round balls fall into worn grooves in the joint as it turns The fix is to have them replaced

Grating soung coming the front wheel

is it like a growling noise, or a metallic "metal on metal" noise, is it clicking? when do you hear it? Common for wheel bearings to go out on those in my experience. usually you can narrow it to a wheel bearing if when you sway the car, you hear a growling noise towards the heavy end of the car, meaning if you turn to the left, causing the car to naturally sway right, the right hand tire front or rear starts making noise, thats usually a wheel bearing. If its a clicking noise while cornering and especially when corning with acceleration, thats usually a CV axle. if its a metal on metal noise, that can be a brake pad worn to low, or even just a simple backing plate to the brake rotor touching and rubbing the rotor.

Jack up the wheel and see if it has play up and down and left and right. Have someone watch inboard as you move it. A bad cluck will usually show itself.

it sounds like the car is a front wheel drive??
then the noise will be the CV (CONSTANT VELOCITY) joints in the front end.
these drive the wheels from the transmission but are a big swivel joint that allows the axle to turn when you turn the wheels
these have ball bearings in them and are full of special grease
they are worn out when they make a very loud clicking noise (LOUDER WHEN YOU TURN A CORNER UNDER POWER)
THEY HAVE A RUBBER BOOT AROUND THEM THAT STOPS THE GREASE COMING OUT AND THE DIRT AND GRIME GETTING IN.
if the rubber boots become perished and crack the grease comes out and the dirt and water (rain) gets in

One of your CV joints are bad, inspect which CV joint needs to be replaced. Roll your windows down and make tight right and left corners in an empty parking lot slowly and listen for the clicking noise. If it's coming from the passenger side window or the drivers side window, which ever side the noise is coming from is the side that the CV joint has failed and will need to be replaced.
Thank you for using FIxya and replacing the front wheel bearing improperly buy hammering the CV joint out instead of using a wheel bearing puller will cause damage to the CV joint as to what you have described. Good luck and keep us posted.

Knocking sound

maybe cv joints. check cv boots to see if torn or look out for grease marks in the area behind front wheel. This would be more clicking noise though and not banging.
