Follow the upper rad hose from the radiator and it will take you to the thermostat housing,the thermostat is in that housing.

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible - Trunk lid will not stay open

All gas charged supports are not created equal. I recommend using O.E. for this application.
Snow,ice and trapped water make the lid heavier than it should be make sure these are not the issue.
