SOURCE: I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee that won't hold a start
check your starter wire as mine was loose and did the same thing every time you interupt power to the alarm system it will flash the lights unlock the drivers door with the key and this will rearm the alarm and the jeep should start up if this is the problem rember to have good battery conections and a good batt first or else this will keep hapening also after 20 starts you may have to do the key thing again
SOURCE: 96 jeep cherokee, replace cps and the engine control fuse
The guy at the garage today, said he went out and put a fuse in it and it started right up. Thats all he did for now. I going to have a closer look on the weekend. But, as before when I went 1/2 mile it would burn the fuse again. We will have to see if it does again, I espect it will. Any idea?
SOURCE: You have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee a 15 amp fuse in the motor compartment keeps blowing out
To isolate this problem, you need to trace the (+) wire connected to fuse. Its possible that part of the wire connected to that fuse is rubbing with your chassis or with other cables thus creating a short. If you are still unsure what to do, its best to have your car checked by an electrician.

It is likely one of your battery cables loose. Same thing just happened to me today. What you need to do is first lock the doors, and close them. Then you need to disconnect, and reconnect the battery cable, then if the security lights still blink you must use your key to unlock the door, then it should stop blinking, and start just fine.
