Very likly your over filling the car with fuel. You shold only fill the car till it stops the fuel handle the firstr tim after that you may be filling the evaprotive fuel system with raw gas the engine is pulling this fuel thight the vacume system and it stumbles on this extra fuel till it burns it all. If in doubt shut off the fuel pump early as your wasting the extra fuel your putting in anyway.

makes sense, except even if you dont fill it up it still does same thing.

put the accelerator pedal down at least twice ? While cranking the engine ? key on ? what ? Your vehicle has electronic fuel injection ,not a carburator . Pushing the gas pedal doesn't do anything The only thing if pushing the gas pedal to the foor an holding it there will put it into clear flood mode , shutting off the fuel injectors .

How to reset ECU,Throttle and Accelerator Position Learning

Hi.

Below the procedure to reset ECU,Throttle and to perform Accelerator Position Learning on Nissan. It works on Titan, Altima, Infinity, pathfinder and other models.

ECU Resetting

While performing the procedures below, ensue that you are respecting the times stated. If the steps are not done within the specified times, the module will not reset. You will need to use a watch or a chronograph while performing the procedures.

Procedure:

1. Ensure that the accelerator pedal is fully released, set ignition switch to the “ON” position, then wait 3 seconds.
2. Follow the steps a and b below, repeat the two steps in sequence quickly for five times within 5 seconds.
a. Push hard the accelerator pedal untill fully depressed.
b. Release the accelerator pedal in full.
3. Wait 7 seconds, then depress the accelerator pedal completely, and hold it for about 10 seconds until the CEL (check engine light) starts blinking.
4. Release the accelerator pedal while the CEL is still blinking.
5. Wait 10 second.
6. Depressthe accelerator pedal in full and hold it for 10 seconds or more.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal while the CEL light keeps flashing.
8. Turn the ignition switch to “OFF” position and start the vehicle. If procedure has been done correctly, then the light light will turn off.
If the light continues to stay on, repeat the procedure.

Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning

Procedure

1. Ensure that the accelerator pedal is completely released before starting the procedure.
2. Turn the ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 2 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch “OFF”, and wait at least 10 seconds.
4. Turn the ignition switch “ON” and wait 2 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition switch “OFF” and wait 10 seconds.

Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning

Procedure

1. Ensure that accelerator pedal is completely released.
2. Turn ignition switch to the “ON” position.
3. Turn ignition switch to the “OFF” position and wait at least 10 seconds.
Ensure that the throttle valve moves after turning the switch off.

Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)

Procedure

1. Follow the Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning described above.
2. Do the Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning also described above.
3. Start the engine, and allow warming up.
4. Turn the ignition on “OFF” positionand wait 10 seconds.
5. Ensure that accelerator pedal is fully released, then turn the ignition switch to “ON” position, and wait 3 seconds.
6. Repeat the steps a and b below five times within 5 seconds in sequence.
a. Push hard the accelerator pedal untill fully depressed.
b. Release the accelerator pedal until reaching full extension.
8. Wait 7 seconds or more, depress the accelerator pedal completely and hold the pedal down for about 20 seconds until you see that the Check Engine Light stops blinking and starts getting steady..
9. Rrelease completely the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the light coming ON.
10. Start engine and let it run at idle for about 20 seconds.
12. Test the engine to ensure the idle speed and ignition timing are set correctly.

I have an 06 cobalt and recently my car started to suddenly lose power while driving. It says reduce engine power when this happens. If I turn the car off for a minute it'll go away.

This has nothing to do with the Catalytic converter ! Plugged catalytic converters don't go away after shutting off the vehicle !
This reduced engine power has to do with the
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) System
Reduced Engine Power Mode When the ECM detects a condition with the TAC system, the ECM may enter a reduced engine power mode. Reduced engine power may cause one or more of the following conditions:
?€¢
Acceleration limiting--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the vehicle acceleration is limited.

?€¢
Limited throttle mode--The ECM will continue to use the accelerator pedal for throttle control; however, the maximum throttle opening is limited.

?€¢
Throttle default mode--The ECM will turn off the throttle actuator motor and the throttle will return to the spring loaded default position.

?€¢
Forced idle mode--The ECM will perform the following actions:

-
Limit engine speed to idle by positioning the throttle position, or by controlling the fuel and spark if the throttle is turned off.

-
Ignore the accelerator pedal input.

?€¢
Engine shutdown mode--The ECM will disable fuel and de-energize the throttle actuator.

2006 aveo throttle body issues

What engine does it have ? Could have come with 5 different ones . If it has the 1.6 L engine . has electronic throttle control.
The throttle actuator control (TAC) system is used to improve emissions, fuel economy, and driveability. The TAC system eliminates the mechanical link between the accelerator pedal and the throttle plate. The TAC system eliminates the need for a cruise control module and idle air control motor. The following is a list of TAC system components:
• The accelerator pedal assembly includes the following components:
- The accelerator pedal
- The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 1
- The APP sensor 2
• The throttle body assembly includes the following components:
- The throttle position (TP) sensor 1
- The TP sensor 2
- The throttle actuator motor
- The throttle plate
• The engine control module (ECM

throttle position switch sounds like getting false readings to computer,
incorrect volts or excessive play from the throttle plate or sensor causes this, has to be one or the other, also check for any intake leaks from the filter to the throttle body, good luck,Gary

I ran out of diesel. put some in and car still wont start

1. The engine does not have any fuel system screw bleeder!
2. The only one way for start the engine is to fill up the tank, then turn the ignition key in "ON" position for 4 - 5 times, wait for 10 seconds between two attempts, without cranking engine.
3. After that push the clutch pedal, (if exists), to the floor, and the accelerator pedal to the floor too. Now turn the ignition key in "ON" position, wait for 5 seconds, and crank the engine for maximum 40 ... 50 seconds. Wait for 60 seconds between two starting attempts, in order to save the battery & starter motor.
4. Repeat the step no.#3 until start the engine.

IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT TOW THE CAR IN ORDER TO ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE!!!
