Installing a chrome engine dress up kit 79 chrysler cordoba
I have done this with my '79, so yes it will work. Although my car is a 360 four barrel, the external engine size is identical. The black box on the stock air cleaner is the "Electronic Spark Advance" computer. It replaced the more well known "Lean Burn" as the ignition/fuel management system. Since you will be disconnecting and discarding the ESA due to the air cleaner change, another ignition system must be installed to replace it - if someone has not already done so. I used a Mopar Performance electronic ignition system-still available for about 200.00. This will not hurt anything. The chrome valve covers fit right on. However on my car, the vacuum amplifier bracket was attached to the right side value cover which I cut off the stock cover and screwed into the chrome cover. I sealed the screw holes with gasket sealer. I do not know exactly what you are referring to regarding the cover connecting the value cleaner to the crankcase breather. There is a hose from the breather which connects to a fitting on the air cleaner. This hose allows the crankcase to vent into the carburetor during wide open throttle conditions when the engine vacuum-operated PCV cannot function. I do like the chrome effect even if it does require more care and maintenance. Good luck!
