What type of transmission is in my 1989 ford f150 lariat xlt

I'd be suspicious of the fuel pump.

Have you checked to make sure the fuel filter isn't clogged (in fact, check all the filters). Sometimes it's really that simple . . .

if you look on the distributor you will see the large connector for the mudule bolted to the side. The spout connector will be within inches of the module connector.

Had a problem like this before and it was the computer..But you could faintly smell something like burnt wires..The computer should be down by the kick panel on the driverside..See if you smell anything on that side

the speedometer cable should go into the side of the transfer case.

up towards the front top, there should be a hole

is it auto 4x4 ? cuz either your switch is broken or the wires that go to the transfer case is disconnected or it might be a blown fuse

265/85r16. rim is 16x7 i believe. the tire size should be on the drivers door jamb

Emissionwiz is correct. Follow his advice. You would need a few special tools to accomplish this task and enough knowledge to complete the repair.
