If it is a factory radio, you can contact a VW dealer(I think you need the VIN# also)and they will provide the code for free.Write down the code and method because anytime the battery gets disconnected that will happen and it does get disconnected for some problem checkouts other than battery or alternator.
Good luck! Greg

You need to call the dealership to get the unlock code. They are going to need proof of ownership.

Stock radio will not work

there is a radio code you need but if the radio says only safe look in you manual for the instruction on how to put in code if you do not have the code anywhere then sadly enough the dealer is the only one that can get your code for you.

1995 VW GOLF RADIO CODE

I just replied to someone having the same problem with a Honda and saw one of the sponsors pop up in the Ads by Google box to the right that may help. I think with Hondas you have to go to the dealership where the car/radio was originally purchased and give them some numbers from the radio. The sponsor may charge to get the number for you but it may be worth a few bucks if that is the only solution. I didn't catch the web address or name - sorry.

Re sitting the radio in my VW golf

The number buttons on the stereo change the code, so push the 1 button 3 times for 3, 2 button 1 time for 1, and so on. If your code was 2255, you'd hit the 1 button 2 times, the 2 button 2 times, the 3 button 5 times, and the 4 button 5 times. When the code is displayed on the screen, you press Mode and Scan at the same time AND HOLD THEM until the radio unlocks. It'll let you know if it's the right number.

Vw golf .... alpha...... safe 2

"2 safe" means that your radio was in safe mode, and then the code was improperly entered 2 times. you either need to disconnect your battery and leave it for up to 4 hours (i've been told), or leave your key in the ignition for around an hour.

once it comes out of "2 safe" mode, then it will just say SAFE and give you the numbers 1-0-0-0. You just need to enter the 4 digit code (using your pre-set numbers 1-2-3-4 to change the numbers), then hold the seek > button and your radio should come on.

If you don't have the code, call VW. they'll find your code for free. they did for me. if not they'll charge like $50 or something.

Radio code for VW golf velocity

sometimes it can be found on the radio casing but the best bet is to take your car to your local dealership and they can use the VIN nimber of the vehicle to track down the radio code
