When all the doors are closed - the warning light for door ajar(drivers side) remains on. Warning comes up on the screen to shut door, however when checked doors are closed. Switched the door switchs around to see if moving them to the passenger would light up the passenger warning light. The drivers warning light stayed on. Appears not to be the switch going bad.

Check the door ajar switch which is located on the pillar post.

courtesy light switch , is door ajar switch an it's part of the door lock actuator . Light on coming on ? Not going off ? The ajar switch is a input to the GEM module , fords BCM - body control module . The GEM will energize a relay to turn on the lights .
The GEM will illuminate the interior lamps when any door is open or ajar. The interior lamps are; the dome lamp, the rear cargo lamp, the door courtesy lamp and the side rail lamps. The courtesy lamps will shut off when the doors are closed and the illuminated entry feature is not active or when the vehicle speed is greater than 5 mph (8 km/h). The interior lamps will not be reactivated until the vehicle speed is less than 3 mph (5 km/h) and a new door open warning lamp switch is received.
The GEM controls the interior lamps illuminated entry function by activating the interior lamp relay.
Mite be a good idea to have it check for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes .

When the is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
The will turn on for 60 seconds or until the driver safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and the lamp turn on at the same time.
If the safety belt is buckled before the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START, from OFF or ACC, neither the chime nor lamp will be activated.
Anytime the is changed to RUN from START while the safety belt warning indicator is activated, the safety belt warning indicator will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed or the safety belt is buckled.

The headlamp-on reminder chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are on, the key is not in the ignition switch, and the driver door is opened.
A single tone will be provided each time a ground signal is received from the message center. A one-second tone will sound for warning indications from the message center. A 100 milli-second tone will sound for each message center button depressed.

I would look for a button switch or 'door jamb switch' which should close or open depending on whether the door is closed or open.

try rolling down a window or leaving a door open, shut liftgate hard. see if it still shows liftgate ajar. on my explorer the seals in door and windows shut so tightly that it was almost impossible to get the gate closed completely with doors closed and windows up.

if this doesn't help then you might need a new switch on it.

I suspect you have a bad door ajar switch on one of your doors.

The switch is on the door latch. try pushing each door in with your hand one at a time and see if the warning goes away.
The Lighting control module is $500 and controls a lot of the vehicle functions. It is part of the headlamp switch. It has to be configured by the dealer with his NGS tester before it will work. Ebay has them cheap sometimes. Only buy Continental LCM for your model year.

Hi John,

Had a similar problem with my Saturn. Door chime going all the time, the seat belts going up - down - up for no apparent reason.

Turned out to be the switch in the door jamb had become unseated. As it randomly made and broke contact, the cars computer thought the doors were opening and closing, then acted accordingly.

I remounted it with the help of a hot glue gun (plastic mount).

A delayed headlamps on repetitive chime will sound for a period of three seconds beginning twenty seconds after the key is turned to OFF, LOCK or ACC, the headlamp switch is in the PARK or HEAD position, and the driver door is closed. Delayed headlamps on is terminated by opening and closing the driver door again.

Safety Belt Warning When the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START from the OFF or ACC position and remains in RUN or START, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled. If the safety belt is buckled when the ignition key is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the lamp will prove out for two seconds, but chime will not be activated. Any time the key is changed to RUN from START while the safety belt warning indicator is activated, the safety belt warning indicator will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed, or the safety belt is buckled.
