Power windows, door locks and mirrors inop.

Sounds familiar - I pulled the rubber boot back and found the black wire was broken. I stripped the wires and put on a couple bullet connectors (terminators) and all is good. Just wish I would have seen this post before I took the door panel off... Oh well...

Look for and repair one or more broken wires in the rubber boot between the body and LF door. Usually it is a thick black wire that is broken.

Well i pulled the rubber boot back on my 04 grand cherokee, overland, found 2 briken wires, my door lock main power and power window, stripped them back and repaired with connectors and taped togeather with electrical tape ...working great a 10 min repair..

Ok, this is what I did back in July. I pulled the boot back on driver side door. The black ground wire was snapped. I just shaved off the plastic alittle and reattached the wire then used electrical tape to put back together. Put the boot back in place and it's been working fine ever since. And to comment above, I had to take the fuses out because the the lights would not go out at night. I tried to turn them off by the turn signal switch and that wouldn't work. So anyway, this do it myself fix saved me so much money. Try this before you head to the store.

My Cherokee did this. It was a broken black wire under the dust cover
on the driverside door. Spliced and taped everything works well.

I replaced the battery on my 2004 Grand Cherokee Jeep after doing so my car window locks and mirror would NOT work!

I went out pulled the boot back on my door and THERE IT WAS A BROKEN BLACK WIRE...WOW this sit saved me BIG TIME! Thanks so MUCH

Black ground wire was broken in driver door rubber boot. Seems to be a common problem.

I had the same problem with the door locks,power windows, and power mirrors.. Fixed it by repairing wires in boot on front left door. Also after I fixed that the passenger rear window did not work so I checked that wiring harness and found some one had tried to repair it and did a bad job. when repairing either use solder adn heat shrink or heat shrink splice connectors to eliminate future problems.

I had a similar driver window problem with my 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The driver window would get stuck down. I replaced the master panel on the driver door, which was purchased for $40.00 on Ebay, cleaned the contacts and now it works fine. If the problem recurs, the wiring in the boot between the door and body will be next.

Yhea...I had the wires repaired three times already. All within 2,000 miles of having it repaired by the dealer the first time. I have asked them to replace the harness...but they say its too big a job. Of course, my warranty expired 6 months ago. Even though I only have 44,000 miles on the vehicle. When it fails, the mirrors, windows, door lock, nothing works on the drivers door. What a pain!

The wiring harness that goes from the drivers door to the body has broken wires in it. The harness is inside the rubber boot between the door and the body.

I used this to find the problem on my wifes 2004 Grand POS, Right on point, soon as I pulled the rubber boot back I found the black wire broken.

Power windows do not work from drivers door or passenger doors

Ok. I may have te same prolem, but.....

When I press the unlock botton all the door pins raise, but the R/Hand front door still fails to open ith the handle.

Am I still looking at the same wiring loom issue??!!

I would like to add my thanks to all of you that added your feedback about a broken wire in the boot between the door and body. I original looked there but didn't see any problem. I took the door panel off and didn't see any problem. Put the multimeter on the switches and they looked good. I then found these posts and went back to boot....this time I pulled on the wires lightly and sure enough the grey wire was broken half. I had to take the door off in order to get to the end in the boot (not a big deal six bolts and unplugging the socket). After splicing the wires back and rehanging the door....everything is operating properly. Note: the grey wire I had broken was two to three inches shorter than the other wires in the harness, this I believe caused stress on the wire enough to break it in half.
ANYWAY THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR POSTS YOU CAUSE ME TO LOOK AT THE BOOT AGAIN, FIXING MY PROBLEM AND SAVED ME A TON OF MONEY.

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY DOORS, WINDOWS, AND DOME LIGHT BUT ITS DEF FIXED NOW! ALL WE DID WAS UNDO THE BOOT IN BETWEEN THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE FRAME OF THE JEEP. THEN WE FOUND THAT THE ORANGE WIRE HAD SNAPPED IN TWO MOST LIKELY BC THE GENIUSES AT JEEP STRESSED IT TOO MUST AND IT JUST SNAPPED EVENTUALLY. WE ADDED AN EXTRA 2 INCHES OR SO OF WIRE WE HAD LAYING AROUND AND CONNECTED THE SNAPPED ORANGE WIRES WITH TWO WIRE NUTS AND BAM! IT WORKED! AND TO THINK I WAS ABOUT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND PAY OVER 200 BUCKS!!!!! IT TOOK US ALL OF ABOUT 20 MINS TOO!!

Not a solution for the problem exactly but to the person who pulled his fuse for the dome lamps, all you need to do is turn the interior lights off at the turn signal switch next time. I'm going to have my wiring repaired tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
