Car starts when it's jump but won't start again could it be the starter

the battery in your in car is maybe drained or damaged or the alternator which suppose to charge your battery is not working so the battery remains uncharged. One way to know if battery is not being charged, jump your car and disconnect from jump leads and take out any one of battery terminals. If engine stops, then your alternator is not working and if it remains idling, then your battery is faulty. Replace battery and see if it works.

97 concorde, started and ran fine, then my daughter did not start the car all winter. It sat with huge mounds of snow on it.Now battery is dead, every time i jump it,it will turn over but won"t stay on...

cheapest thing to start with is to buy a new battery. they arent built to last. if that doesnt help then its your alternator. sounds like its gonna be the alternator though. you can test it with a test light though or some alternator repair shops will look at it for free. it will only take them a minute to do if you feel like taking the alternator in

Hello i have a 2004 expedition , and i have been having issues with my battery draining. about a month and a half ago i went away vacation , came home to start my truck only to relize my battery was dead....

Your solution is a little hard to find too bad they told you to change the alternator. It is a simple fuse you need to change that is blown. on the expetion sometimes there are two one in the fuse box and one under a black cover follow the alternator small wires it should point to the direction of the small i believe 7.5 amp fuse. it was hard to find and i do this for a living. good searching.

After putting inn a new starter, new battery, and battery fuse my car starts sometimes. I can start it and go somewhere and then go to leave and it won't start. A jump does start it.

I would have the think its the alternator. If a jump starts the car, maybe the alternator isnt charging the battery properly. If you can take it off, Auto Zone, and places like that will test for free. Also, start your car and put a volt meter on you battery. You should be makin 14ish volts (14.4). If its making less (like 12-13) id def say its the alternator. (make sure everything is off in your car when you take the volt reading. Heater,lights,stereo,headlights.... Everything)

1998 ford contour start up, alternator? battery?

may i ask? when you jump start from doner car battery?? do you connect battery to battery with leads? reason for querie is the correct method is=connect leads to doner terminals on battery then on your car connect +LEAD TO YOUR BATTERY BUT THE NEGATIVE LEAD TO THE ENGINE ENSURE GOOD CONTACT ? if engine starts then ? you will have to check the earth lead from battery to engine connection it may be loose or deteriated ? doing the above test you are using doner battery power SO to check your cars battery ?and whether it is an earth connection fault? just connect 1xjump lead from your cars neg terminal on battery and the other end to the engine providing a good suplimentary earth to enable starter to function properly due to its high amps load needed if it works? check as explained above ? please update back on progress if any? good luck
