1987 Honda Accord Jolts When Shifting up and down to 2nd

I have a 1987 Honda accord with Automatic Transmission that seems to Jolt into 2nd gear, but more so when braking and downshifting to 2nd. The car seems to "clunk" or "jolt". As the car warms up, the upshift jolt is not as noticeable, but car still clunks when braking close to or around 2nd. Shoudl I be worried about the transmission? Thanks

While on cruise control car down shifts and clunks into a lower gear. The RPM go way up and the tool sensors goes on. When off cruise control the car goes from the hi her gear to lower gear with a clunk.

Hi, its best you get this looked at soon as possible the chances are it could just be that you need the fluid topping up and will need checking for any leaks.
The problem is if it gets to bad then replacing an auto box is very expensive and is hard to do so its best you get it looked at before it gets beyond repair.
Taking it into a garage will be your best option as they will have a special tool for testing the pressure in the auto box and also the fluid level.
If it has got to bad and cant be solved by fluid alone then the cheapest option would be to get a reconditioned box and getting this fitted as a new one will cost a fortune.
Hope this is some help to you let me know how you get on or if you have any questions ok

Engine starts, will shift into gears but car won't move, engine only revs on 1992 honda accord

If it isn't moving then it is NOT shifting into gear. The lever may shift up and down. But it does not mean the transmission is engaging. Might want to check your transmission fluid. I am assuming this is an automatic. Hopefully you didnt burn up your tranny.

Automatic Transmission shifting problems.

i had the same thing...It's the transmission. It's REALLY noticeable shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I was able to get my transmission fixed for 900 bux. That wasn't even a replacement so i can imagine how much it would cost to get it replaced. The shifting will get worse. By the end of my "experience" it wouldn't shift from 1st to 2nd for about 5 minutes until i drove it around for a bit. THen it would "warm up" to the idea of shifting to 2nd gear.

Car shifts hard (up & down), especially shifting to reverse.

that delayed reaction may be the transmission slipping. with those many miles it could be the transmission going bad

Automatic transmission on my '92 Accord will not shift. All shifting must be done manually. Also, the light around the D (DRIVE) is always lit no matter which gear I've manually shifted to.

This is a very common problem, the transmission computer (tcm) has gone bad. It is located under the front passenger footwell. Pull back the carpet and you'll see both the engine computer and the tcm. They are available as rebuilts on ebay and other sources online. Do not buy one from a 2nd hand supplier. They are all bad and must be rebuilt. Google: "accord tcm" for more info.

Rough shifting automatic transmission on Honda Accord from 1st to 2nd gear

it has a problem with the second gear drum it cracks and does not fully engauge the n shifts to 3rd ..many honda owners also learn the 8 bucks a quart is the only fluid to pour in a honda..but remember 3 qaurts per drain and fill the tranny holds 7q ....it will take a case to do a drain flush...a high pressure flush will ruin a automatic tranny with alot of miles or metal deposits floating around inside..DRAIN AND FILL 3 QUARTS AT A TIME NO GASKET NEEDED ITS BUILT AND DESIGNED LIKE A MANUAL TRANNY
