Usually there's no need for a fluid change on the brakes unless you contaminated it with something. However, if you must, then you want to use two people. Start with the rear brakes. Go to one side, remove the wheel, and you'll see a little nub looking thing on the back of the backing plate. It should have a rubber cap on it, but that may have come off. Use a box ended wrench or a socket to loosen it, but do not remove it. Have a partner press on the brakes. Fluid will come out, and tighten before having your partner let up on the brakes. Do this until your brake fluid reservoir is ALMOST empty. At this point, have your partner wait to let up on the pedal, and go up to the front of the truck with your new brake fluid. As your partner lets up on the pedal slowly, exactly as the fluid runs out, start pouring and fill it up. Continue with the first activity of pumping(just don't run out of fluid at any point after this) until you see the new fluid coming out. Close off that valve, and move to the other side. Do the same, only you don't need to let it run out. The front brakes are done the same way.

Frozen brake fluid in rear brakeline froze caliper

Frozen brake fluid?
Do you live on the shady side of Pluto?
Or did you do the last time a brake fluid full exchange in the Jurassic Period?
Break fluids are hygroscopic (water absorbing). Over time they will come contaminated with water which reduces their boiling point which reduces their effectiveness on hot breaks.
If your break fluid actually froze as you described then it must have absorbed a lot of water as a result of never having been changed over decades.
A full break fluid exchange should be done at least every two years!

I just changed the breaks on my 2004 optra 5 ls and there are still spungy? What could be the problem?

Hi,

Most likely cause is air in the break lines. This can happen if the break lines are not bled during the break job. If you did bleed the lines during the job you may be low on break fluid. If the fluid level is OK then you should bleed the breaks again, making sure the fluid level stays high.

Should I try to flush the break fluid in my 2002 ford escape myself?

I only had a couple customers request to change the brake fluid, but it wasn't that hard.I started by using a turkey baster to **** most of the old fluid from the resevoir, and then refilled it with new fluid. Then,I opened the furthest bleeder screw(right rear) first, and had a helper pump the pedal until the fluid changed to the lighter color of the new fluid, then moved to the left rear, then the right front, then the left front.Make sure to get plenty of fluid of the type specified(most are DOT3).(I can find a gallon bottle size at some parts stores).

Changed brake pads and now I have no brake pressure

you may need to bleed your breaks so check your fluid and have a friend help you with this.. open or take off break fluid cap and top off with fluid leave cap off and start on the back passanger side break have someone pump the break a few times and then hold down on the break pedal while you open the bleeder valve when the break pedal reaches the floor hold there and retighten the bleeder valve and repeat untill no air only fluid comes out, then move to the driverside rear wheel and repeat, next is the front passanger side wheel then finaly front driverside wheel. check fluid in master cylender after every 2 trys on each wheel to make sure pleanty of fluid is in resourvior so your not putting air in the lines.. you should see a video on this to make sure you understad it fully before attempting yourself, go to youtube videos and watch a video on how to bleed breaks almost all break systems are the same. i hope this helps.

My 4runner breaks fail atimes. what can I do to resolve this? Brand is toyota 4runner 1999 model v6 engine (5vz) Whenever I apply break softly, the break pedal goes all the way down. I have changed all...

Calipers need to be replaced.
Brake fluid needs to be flushed completely through 4 wheels.
If you are not comfortable to do it your self then have a shop to do it. These calipers can be rebuilt, but I would go with new ones.It is recommended to have brake fluid flushed every 3 years. The brake fluid is subjected to absorb moisture over time. When it has moisture, it combines with dust causing some clogged up at moving surface locations as cylinders inside calipers. New brake fluid in the line can maintain the brake performance as it is designed to do so. Flushing is not the same as filling up. Good luck.

If you want to change break master cylinder, first remove two break pipes then remove four nuts which is holding master cylinder to breake booster.careful breake fluid from the car body and your self.

put the new breake master cylinder tight four nuts, before you fit the braeke pipes get some body who can hold breake bedel down put the breake fluide tell him to pump breake bedel when the brake master take fluid hold your fingers where you want to fit brake pipes when you feel more pressure which is pushing your finger tell him to hold the bedel down while you tighting the pipes.
you dont need to bleade the wheels. it is ready.
the ather thing when you remove the breake master put the new one then fit the brake pipes fil with the breake fluide then bump so you must bleade all wheels
