Make sure your antifreeze is full up. This condition usually happens when the coolant sensor malfunctions or is not covered by the antifreeze. Your best bet is to remove & replace the coolant sensor located close to the thermostat housing. All you need is a drain pan for any antifreeze loss & a deep socket, I think it's 13/16in. Hope this helps! Good luck!

blew something in lower end --oil pump damaged --no oil or low level --check oil pressure then do compression test as well --since knocking noise is usually called rod knock

I just purchased a used 2001 Crown Vic lx. today when i cranked it for the first time the oil light came on for about five minutes. i just put a quart in yesteday. after five minutes the light went off....

if it is just oil level sensor not too worry, other wise it sounds like you have low oil pressure most oil pressure sensors turn on lght below about 5-7 psi. its odd to me that light took so long to go out and are you running proper wt oil 10-30 say for your climate? most of the time engines warm-up oil thins a bit and so at low engine speeds, oil light comes on when engine is warm. one other thought was that you say it was running for 5 mins before oil light went out-did it sound bad? ticking or knocking like it really did not have oil pressure? or possibly sensor/gauge problem.

Sounds like you are right on the apex seals. Oil coming from the intake is probably from excessive blowby pressure in the engine due to bad seals. The battery could be bad from age, is it the original battery?

If your oil pressure gets to low it can turn off the fuel pump. This may also have saved your engine. The ECM turns on the fuel thru the fuel pump relay for about 5 seconds. When engine is running oil pressure sender supplies the voltage to the pump. When engine shuts off check oil pressure and voltage to fuel pump.

Low oil pressure after engine warms.....

A 1999 Yukon DOES NOT have a vacuum advance. It is computer controlled timing. Low oil pressure is the result of some or all of the following : worn oil pump, worn cam bearings, worn crank bearings. Oil pressure also normally drops as engine warms because the viscosity of the oil changes with temperature.
