My Kia Spectra 2001. I just bought it and the next day it would not start, the engine would go wrrrng wrrrrng wrrrrng but noyhing, and 20 minutes after it started ok, what could it be?

Virtually the entire motor trade is in favour of NGK spark plugs, the parent company of which is Nippon Denso, original equipment on many Asian built vehicles.
You start by disconnecting the battery and waiting for about 15-minutes because of the airbags.
Next you turn-off the airbag switches (driver & passenger side).
Then you begin removing the center-console,
the heater-core is deep in there.
Its almost a 2-day job.
Due to the complexity of work involved, I suggest you get the Hanyes manual. It is less than $20, and things are explained in details, with pictures/diagrams.
There could be a hundred causes for an engine light. First step is to hook up a computer scan tool and see what codes the computer has. The next step depends on the codes.
it is probably the starter assuming the engine isnt locked up. I would check to see if you have battery voltage at the starters solenoid wire with the key in the start position if you do i would check the fuses and starter relay
Let me know what you figure. I have changed alternator , water pump and belt on my daughters 2002 Spectra. . Still squeals. Currently assessing battery condition.
