New noise makes a whirring type noise when in motion,fwd or reverse,turning not a factor,sound started suddenly,gets louder the faster you go

This all depends on what type noise... it is NORMAL for noises to get louder the older the vehicle gets, and faster the vehicle goes...the seals around the doors and the windows get old, develop leaks, and start to let air in....things do not fit as well as they did when the vehicle was new...as tires get older, they start to make noise also, the exhaust system is getting older too.. it starts to let more noise through.....

Whirring ... Seriously? (might mean you overdosed).

Could be a loose fender liner... or maybe a wheel coming off and EVERYTHING in between (wheel bearings or dragging a kid's tricycle).

When everything is bolted down, clear and working fine ... there is nothing finer than the freedom of driving your car...

But when they start making strange noises...
They can be QUITE DEADLY.

A part coming loose... or even a plastic bag sucked into an air intake can have fatal consequences if ignored.

If you cannot immediately find the cause of a trouble...

Muffler shops, mechanics & service stations would love to have you visit...

Don't risk SAFETY... when all the FINE FOLKS are
just waiting to help (sell lots of things)...

Listen to what they are telling you...

A loose muffler bracket can save your entire exhaust system if addressed early... but that same MUFFLER CAN KILL
PEOPLE in the car behind you if it FALLS OFF at freeway speeds.

sounds like a wheel bearing is it a type of howling noise if so its a wheel bearing

this sounds like(no pun intended) you have a wheel hub bearing assembly failing. they will start a whirring or humming noise and then a growling or grinding noise the worse they get. from your description it is a rotational noise and gets louder and maybe a higher pitch as the vehicle speed increases. have this checked out right away so no further damage is done. they are not cheap assemblies as most GM and Saturn vehicles have the ABS sensor built into them(if your Vue has ABS).

The first thing to check would be to make sure the power steering reservoir is not running near empty, locate the filler cap for the power steering pump it should be marked and then add the appropriate amount making sure you don't over fill, that may make the sound go away if not we must move on to the next possibility, by the way if the noise gets louder when you turn the steering wheel it is most likely the power steering pump or fluid level is low.

Something in the transmission or accessory drive belts is where I would start to look
as it sounds dependent on engine speed.

sounds like you may have a CV joint ready for replacement. Does it seem to get louder and/or click when you are turning?
