Replace oil sending unit its not hurting the car if your oil is full end the light is still on then you have a bad oil sending unit cheap to fix yourself

Have the oil changed and reset the % gauge for the oil life with the driver information system.

Why is my oil light coming on when I slow down suddenly?

Check your engine oil level, when the oil level is low, braking suddenly causes the oil to surge away from the oil pump pickup in the sump and will cause the light to come on. Top up the engine oil as soon as possible or you will end up with a very expensive repair job

I have a 2000 Buick lesabre and I believe I'm

Ok what your describing is your Transmission not shifting between gears so low or no transmission oil means a slow car and at risk at damaging it so ckeck the oil level and if you have got full oil it it then you will need to take it to a mechanic.

Why is oil light staying on,even after resetting? The oil level is ok. 2004 buick lesabre

If oil level is ok and seems to run normally there may be an issue with the oil level sensor located in the oil pan.

1995 buick lesabre limited, oil gauge issue

Could be two things, your oil pump pick tube is clog, oil pan would have to be drop to check, or your camshaft bearing worn causing low oil pressure,I would not say piston rod bearing or main bearing, cause there's no knock noise. You will have better oil pressure when cold due to oil much thicker. so I would forget about a bad oil pump.

HOW DO YOU TURN THE OIL LIGHT OFF

If the oil light is on, Don't drive your car until you've checked the oil level .
The oil light is an indicator that warns you when the oil level has dropped to an unsafe level and will not allow proper oil flow thru the motor because the oil pressure is dropping.

Don't take a chance! Check the oil level. Make sure it's between the full and add 1 quart line. If you don't see anything on the dipstick, it's really low... If you run your car with low oil, you're going to freeze up the motor.

If the oil level is ok and the oil light is still on, have the pressure sender checked to make sure there's proper oil pressure. The light will stay on if there's a problem..
