Check oil filter, sometimes gasket from old filter is still on engine and when tou have 2 gaskets, (the old one and new one on new filter) it will hemmorage out oil pretty quick. next time check to see if gasket is on old filter when it is removed. I found that out after $30 worth of Mobil 1 poured out on my driveway.

96 deVille. Think the oil pressure sending unit is leaking. How do you remove. Mine is located above the AC pressure lines and I can't reach.

Hello: The oil pressure sending unit is located on the oil filter adapter, which is behind the lower front engine mount. It is best to get a deep oil pressure socket to do the task. Check with Advance Auto, Auto Zone, O'Reilly, or NAPA for the socket.

Oil leak above the oil filter no one can point the like

Oil leaks can be a pain to locate so I will give you a few tricks I've picked up along the way for locating oil leaks. Start by cleaning/degreasing the area. You want to remove as much of the old residue as possible. Then you can do several things from here.

1. Purchase and oil dye additive (this additive makes the oil glow when a black light i shined on it) and run the engine for a little while then re-inspect with black light to find locations where dye is concentrated.

2. After cleaning, spray the are that you suspect the leak is coming from with a spray on type foot powder(powder sprays on white providing an excellent contrast to trace leak). Run the engine and follow the oil trail to source of leak

Where is the engine oil drain plug on a 1998 gmc jimmy ?

i have a 96 and an 01, go under the truck from behind the drivers side front tire, the drain plug is at the back of the oil pan just behind front skid plate, the oli filter is right behind the front bumper , there is a trap door to get to the filter, but that's only for 4x4 or awd modle's, 2wd filter's are on the drivers side of the enging infront of the starter

OIL LEAK COMING CLOSE TO THE OIL FILTER

if you had recently done or had an oil change done sometimes the gasket from the old oil filter sticks to the block. when you install the new oil filter it ends up with 2 gaskets and leaks around the base where filter meets oil cooler. another posability is the oil pressure sending unit is mounted just above the filter.

Oil leaking on front right side of the car near oil pan and oil filter

You need to clean the engine and then run the vehicle while watching the area. The most common failure is the oil sending unit located near the oil filter. I have also seen a leak develop between the oil pump housing, which is mounted directly behind the hamonic balencer and the engine block.
