I purchased a 97 Z3 today, it also had an Airbag light that stays on during operation. While at the emissions testing center, they plugged in a 12 cord to my lighter outlet. While running the car for them while the back tires were turning on rollers the ABS & Stabilty control light also came on. The tires started to sway on the rollers and it seems that may have contributed to the lights coming on, help.

Rubbish etc under seats can interfere with wiring to airbag sensors and cause light to come on -check this and find a contact with the necessary bmw "computer" to find if there actually is a fault or if it can simply be reset-good luck-pdr4401.
1st when the
airbag light is on the system is disabled, so if u have an accident
they will not work, as to the common cause read below.
When
the airbag light is on it means a fault has occurred in the system
and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most
common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection
to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating
ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the
airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is
called th clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact
that turns with the wheel

I was driving my 1997 BMW Z3 when the ABS warning light and another warning light (triangle w/ exclamation point) suddenly went permanently on when the car is in operation.
hi, airgag warning light seems to stay on pemenantly. No rubbish under either seat. Is it possible to reset the warning light manually, or will it require a BMW specialst? If so, what can I expect to pay?
Thanks
