You jave a biggie here.
here is some info
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the difference between engine speed and transmission output speed. In D3 drive range with the TCC engaged, the engine speed should closely match the transmission output speed. In D4 drive range, with the TCC engaged, the TCC slip speed should be -20 to +60 RPM .

When the PCM detects excessive TCC slip when the TCC should be engaged, then DTC P1870 sets. DTC P1870 is a type B DTC.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC

  • No TP sensor DTCs P0122 or P0123.
  • No VSS assembly DTCs P0502 or P0503.
  • No TCC solenoid valve DTC P0740.
  • No 1-2 SS valve DTC P0753.
  • No 2-3 SS valve DTC P0758.
  • No 3-2 SS valve assembly DTC P0785.
  • No TCC PWM solenoid valve DTC P1860.
  • The engine is not in fuel cutoff.
  • The engine torque is 40-400 lb ft .
  • The TP angle is 12-50% .
  • The vehicle speed is 56-112 km/h (35-70 mph ).
  • The speed ratio is 0.64-0.95 (the speed ratio is the engine speed divided by the transmission output speed).
  • The engine speed is 1500-3500 RPM .
  • The gear range is D4.
  • The commanded gear is not 1st gear
  • The TFT is between 20-130°C (68-266°F) .
  • The shift solenoid performance diagnostic counters are zero.

    CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
DTC P1870 sets if the following conditions occur for three TCC cycles during the same trip.

The TCC is commanded ON for 5 seconds .
The TCC is at maximum duty cycle for 8.5 seconds .
The TCC slip speed is 300-1000 RPM for 7 seconds .

IMPORTANT: The following actions may occur before the DTC sets.

If the TCC is commanded ON and at maximum duty cycle for 8.5 seconds , the TP angle is 7-40% , and the transmission slip counter has incremented to either 1 or 2 (out of 3 to increment the fail counter for the current ignition cycle), then the following slip conditions and actions may increment the fail counter for the current ignition cycle:

    These conditions must occur sequentially.

Condition 1 : If the TCC slip speed is 200-1000 RPM for 7 seconds , then the PCM commands maximum line pressure and freezes shift adapts from being updated.
Condition 2 : If Condition 1 is met and the TCC slip speed is 200-1000 RPM for 7 seconds , then the PCM commands the TCC OFF for 1.5 seconds .
Condition 3 : If Condition 2 is met and the TCC slip speed is 200-1000 RPM for 7 seconds , then the fail counter on the current ignition cycle is incremented.

The above slip conditions and actions may be disregarded if the TCC is commanded OFF at any time as a result of a driving maneuver (sudden acceleration or deceleration).

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS

The PCM illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) during the second consecutive trip in which the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met.
The PCM commands maximum line pressure.
            The PCM inhibits TCC engagement.
The PCM inhibits 4th gear if the transmission is in hot mode.
The PCM freezes shift adapts from being updated.
the PCM records the operating conditions when the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met. The PCM stores this information as Freeze Frame and Failure Records.
The PCM stores DTC P1870 in PCM history during the second consecutive trip in which the Conditions for Setting the DTC are met.

    CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC

The PCM turns OFF the MIL during the third consecutive trip in which the diagnostic test runs and passes.
A scan tool can clear the MIL/DTC.
The PCM clears the DTC from PCM history if the vehicle completes 40 warm-up cycles without an emission-related diagnostic fault occurring.
The PCM cancels the DTC default actions when the fault no longer exists and/or the ignition switch is OFF long enough in order to power down the PCM.

    DIAGNOSTIC AIDS

Bronze material found in the transmission oil pan may indicate stator shaft bushing wear. If bushing wear is suspected, inspect the stator shaft and the input (turbine) shaft for damage.
Refer to Symptom Diagnosis for more information.

2002 GMC Sonoma 4.3 Vortec revs high when first started.

aLL FUSES GOOD.
all cold engines race high ,engine cold and the more cold the more high RPM. 1500 is PAR for RPM cold, is yours higher?
black SOOT is a huge bad RICH sign. of greatly needed engine service.
no code told P03xx what is XX.? (sad face)
we can';t guess codes we need to see them. sorry and all off them.
I thank also your scan tool is not certified for GM OEM scan codes.
P1xx up.p2XX ?
or is super old scanner useless
or just cheap $17 code reader ? also useless in the real world.

also did you know P0300 to P0306 means misfire. (weak combustion) lots of clauses.
ever do full tune up, in 20 years, spark plugs , spark wires
distrib. cap and rotor? ICM bad,?
?????
Map sensor clogged
IAC valve stuck open , RPM not regulated.

Fuel pressure was low, how low?, not told PSI
low does not cause rich burn but sure lean burn and misfire sure.
spec is.fuel real PSI test is 60-66?psi. RUNNING engine.
if not pump or FPR are bad. yes pumps can fail weak easy.
the test is called the Injector fuel pressure balance test in the SM, service manual.
the rules are.(gas)_
1: good engine, (compression at spec) EGR not stuck open and CATS not melted closed.
2: spark good, we can not burn fuel with dead or weak spark.
we call this a tune up,. (or doing the service points (today)
3: bad fueling, last fuel is last. in the due to Physics.
bad fueling can be caused by (short list)
bad MAF , or MAP, FPR, PUMP, or injectors leaking or clogged.
IAC stuck makes idle controls dead.
to find it take real tools , and gauges, a real scan tool , 2008 or newer OBD2 scan tool is best, for sure GM rated
GM has its own OEM factory codes. (vast)
or get the car serviced in a shop.,,, Bingo they have the tools!

here is your spark schematic
all these can produce P03xx codes too, but was never told.

I have a 1991 GMC Sonoma I took my truck to the repair shop and the mechanic put on plungs, wires, rotary, cap, and gasket and my truck still stop. The mechanic did not know what code 22 and code 34 means....

very good point so now you should be going to an accredited service center with experience on your make of vehicle googling the fault codes give s the result
code 22 indicates that the throttle position (TPS) is reading abnormally low TPS voltage should be .42 volts at closed throttle rising smoothly .02 v increments to a max voltage of 4.85 v at full throttle
code 34 indicates that the mass air flow (MAF) sensor circuit ( signal voltage low-high vacuum
check the air filter and replace the MAF sensor
now , I can get this information from using google , it doesn't say much for the mechanics ability or training
for your own personal information , when you get a fault code show up, go google and type in -GM fault code ( what ever it is ) and there are plenty of sites that will give you the fault in detail -- for example I typed ij gm fault code 22 and got the information
It really helps you when you front a shop and you know the area of the fault first as it stops the rip off before it starts

P1133 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1
I would have the repair shop see if they either damaged or left disconnected the oxygen sensor for engine cylinder bank one upstream sensor, this sensor would have been disconnected if the oil pan was removed.

1994 Sonoma service engine soon. Code 13?

Actually codes are specific to vehicles, you will need to bring it into a shop and have it checked. Any time a "Service Engine Soon" light comes on, you have and emissions problem, and it will not pass inspection
