I own a 2002 saturn L100. There is a strong gas odor from the car after it is driven. I have checked the engine compartment for leaks, and have found none. I also checked at the filler neck, and as much of the tank that I could see, and found no leaks there either. There appears to be some kind of a breather at the filler, behind the splash panel. I don't know it's function. I can't pinpoint the area of the odor. Sometimes it seems at the front, sometimes the rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SOURCE: 2002 saturn l100 A/C wont work

ok ac system has a pressure switch that stops the compressor when freon is too low. they actually say it is ok for mobile a/c systems to lose a half pound a year. most a/c systems run on under 2 pounds of freon. so after 3 or 4 years some systems will just quit working. you are at 8 to 9 years so i would recommend you find an independant shop that will top off your a/c and see if it works again. this should not cost more that 50 to 75 bucks. If you were here that is what i would charge. I am in columbus ohio just to let you know. hope this helps and thanks for using fixya

Why do I smell raw gasoline when I walk up to my 2002 Saturn L100?

EVAP system may be leaking or have a stuck open purge valve . Check for leaking gas hoses around the tank or leaking near the fuel rail and injectors . Be careful as this can be a fire hazard .

How can i find a gas leak on my gas tank?

Usually when a gas leak occurs. There will be a strong lingering gas odor or fuel may leak. If you can not locate the leak you may want to hire a repair shop to perform a "Smoke Test". This test is typically used to find leaks in the EVAP system but has other great uses as well. This test can help locate engine vacuum leaks and fuel tank leaks as well. You might also consider lowering the tank down for further diagnostic information. Any other questions feel free to write back. Good Luck.

1997 Villager gas smell when outside temperatures are hot and vehicle has been driven.

A common problem with Nissan products, which this van is a Nissan Quest with Mercury trim.
There are several small rubber fuel hoses around the intake. When the air temp is cold these hoses can leak and then stop leaking when the air temp warms up.
When the air temp is cold, look around the intake with the engine running and you should see one of the hoses wet with fuel.
Just tighten the clamp.
