If it turns over but doesnt run, check the hall pickup in the distributor. if it wont turn over at all, its the brown goundwire connected in the engine compartment on the drivers side halway between the starter motor and the master cylinder.

I have a 1990 Dodge Dakota V6 that I have replaced the plugs, wire, distributor cap, ignition coil and the module in the distributor and still no start my next move is to replace the ECM right?

NO you don't replace the ECM. Replacing the ECM is the LAST thing you deal with as its a lot of work and can be VERY expensive to do.
Engines need 3 things to run. Fuel, Air and spark. You have only checked the spark system.
What Exactly does the vehicle do when you turn the Key? Check the air filter is clean and then check the fuel supply system.

I have a 1996 Chevrolet C 1500 PU with vortec engine if I start it every day it is fine but if I let it sit without starting for a couple days it won't start. What will cause this.

very interesting indeed. My first impression would be replace the fuel pressure regulator. if that doesn't do the trick i'd look at the engine temp sensor to the ECM. beyond that, replace the ecm.

I have bmw 316i n reg went out to start it and there was nothing it would bump start so i changed starter motor and next day was fine then day after it done it again does anyone know what it could be...

there may be a damaged wire coming from the receiver ring which sits round your ignition lock, this "reads" your key and allows the starter to turn your engine over so if there is an intermittant fault here that could cause your non-starting.

GM 2.8 Liter Engine ECM/Coil will produce spark

does a 85 have a ECU unit ??? sounds like it could be the switching transistor thats either under the coil or inside the distributor should look like a black plastic casing with 3/4 wires running to it then to the coil look at this first as often motor runs ,stop for a quickie somewhere and jump back in and engine will not fire up ,classic symptons

GMC Safari start problem

I think it's the fuel pump or the fuel pump filter.

Check the fuel system that's where your problem is, my bet is your fuel pump has left this world to a better place.

94 toyota camery no spark

I had the same problem recently but replacing the ignition Coil under the distributor (inside) solved the problem. Also replaced the distributor Cap and rotor at the same time.
