Programming remote to open doors

I bought a 2006 rx400h second hand and the dealer only had one key, not the remote unfortunately. I found a locksmith who wouldcut spare keys and could program the remote key that he suggested I buy on ebay. He succeed in cutting spare keys and also reflashed the car's computer to recognise them asmaster keys. Unfortunately he was unable to program the remote to open the doors.
Does anyone know the correct sequence of door opening/closing/locking/unlocking etc that will program this remote or do I need to take it to a Lexus dealer?
Thanks

Thanks for the prompt response, I'll let you know if Lexus does program it for free. You said "free of cost with car document", what document do I need to show?

    Thanks

    3dmaster,

Thanks for your help with this. I will bring the title with me. You say that Lexus acknowledges there is an issue with the programming and will program it for free, like a recall? sounds to good to be true!

    Thanks again,

    Ian

Dear Customer,

If you didn't change your remote kit than its a best way to take to your dealer ,there is minor problem with sequence so they wil do free of cost with car document.

How to program 2012 remote key fob

Unfortunately you are not able to program a 2012 Hyundai Elantra key fob remote without professional equipment. I would recommend calling a few local automotive locksmiths in your area as they are usually a bit more affordable than the dealer. There are many vehicles that you can self program a key fob to and Key Fob Programming Instructions can be found here:

I lost my only key for my 2001 cadillac catera, how can I get a new one?

You need to get an aftermarket coded key which can be cut by the serial number of the vehicle.
You need to be a locksmith to get the cut codes or know a locksmith.
Then you have to get the car to the dealer and have the key programmed using the Tech 2 scanner.

You can take the car to the dealer and have them give you a key, programmed and everything but it will cost around $300 for the 1st key.

I bought a 2001 Catera for $1,500.00 because it had no keys.

I used serial number to get key codes and cut the key; doors opened and seller retrieved her personal stuff.
I towed car to dealership and had the key programmed; $130 for 10 minutes work (min 1 hour shop charge).
I then programmed 3 more keys (using a key code reader) instead of letting the dealership rape me.

BTW, they (dealer) also want $350 for a programmed door remote; the stock remote!
Instead, I bought a remote starter unit (Bulldog) with 2 remote fobs for $100 and now my wife can start and find her car easily.

I have a 2006 Chevy HHR, bought used about two years ago. We already replaced the keyless remote one (at $90) and it won't work again. New batteries didn't help. When you use the key on the door (rather...

You are going to need to recalibrate the remote to the vehicle. As long as the remote works correctly which i think it should. It will actually tell you how in the owners manual. I am not current with the HHR as i have not worked on one yet. They must be reliable!

Key programming for rx400h 2008

you need a scan tool to do the job. either take it to the Lexus dealership or call up your local locksmiths, a lot of them can program remotes for less than the dealer.

Remote key fob won'tprogram

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possession, you are done. To end mode open door or insert key into ignition.

You'll need to follow the steps with no more than a 1-2 second delay between each step.. hope it works

Car keys and keyless remote FOB programing/matching.

A Locksmith can cut and program keys. You likely did not save anything buying the blank online, locksmiths already have them on hand, and the key itself is not the major part of the fee.

I can not find a model EL, must be strictly Canadian

If this has been helpful, please post a review for City Lock Boulder Colorado USA listing on Google Maps

You may find a locksmith that has been background checked on a link from our website. I am not putting the link here, as it likely is a TOS thing

Key for my Suzuki Aerio 2003

Don't buy it from the dealer, just buy a used remote from eBay. Use these instructions to program it.

1. Confirm that all doors are closed and the ignition key is out of the ignition cylinder.
2. Open the driver's door.
3. Within 10 seconds, Insert key into ignition turn to ON position and back to OFF and remove the key.
4. Within 20 seconds, close and open the drivers door 3 times. (Drivers door should be open)
5. Within 10 seconds, insert key into ignition turn to ON position and back to OFF and remove the key.
6. Press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons together on the same remote for at least 5 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock (that's a very good sign)
7. Within 5 seconds, press the LOCK button on the same remote and release. You just programmed your remote ??
