You can put it in neutral and it starts right back up. When it stalls there is no warning, just stalls and the dash lights come on.You can put it in neutral and it starts right back up. When it stalls there is no warning, just stalls and the dash lights come on.

I would suggest that you have a bad batch of gas in your tank. (Water in gas) this would be why engine runs poor and stalling. Drain and/or put good gas in.
Is the Service Engine Soon (or Check Engine) light illuminated on the instrument panel? If so, then have someone pull the codes and post them back here. Autozone will do this for you at no cost.Caution: don't purchase any parts after reading the codes on their recommendation! If no codes, then suspect either a bad crankshaft sensor or camshaft sensor. There are other possibilities too, but these are primary. I have seen MANY bad crank sensors do exactly what your describe without setting a code.
Try turning the key to the on postion-not crank, just to he postion right before cranking. leave it in that postion for 15 min, Do this three and after the third time go ahead an try to start it. Hopefully this will reset your security for you.
It sounds like you are having a problem with your 1992 Oldsmobile 88. The issue you described, where the car is not accelerating and stalling out, could be caused by a number of things. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
Check the fuel system. A faulty fuel pump or clogged fuel filter could cause the engine to stall out. Check the fuel pump and fuel filter and replace them if necessary.
Check the ignition system. A faulty spark plug or ignition coil could cause the engine to misfire and stall out. Check the spark plugs and ignition coils and replace them if necessary.
Check the fuel pressure. Low fuel pressure can cause the engine to stall out. Check the fuel pressure and make sure it is within the manufacturer's specifications.
Check the engine temperature. If the engine is overheating, it could cause the engine to stall out. Check the engine temperature and make sure it is within the normal range.
I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the problem in order to determine the cause and recommend the appropriate repair. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

What engine is in it? Does it still have the coolant temp. sensor in it?
