This light usually refers to the vehicle's Immobiliser System. Has this light just started to come on recently? Some Nissan models normally have this light flash when you walk away from the vehicle to show that the Immobiliser is active and working correctly while you are away from the vehicle.
If this light stays on when you try to start the vehicle it usually means the security system (the immobiliser) isn't recognising the key you are using. Are you having problems starting the vehicle?
If this is something it has just started doing try this simple fix first. Change the battery in the key fob for a good quality new one. An old battery can sometimes give a weak signal which the security system cannot read correctly and assumes it's an attempt to steal the vehicle.
Is the vehicle's battery in good condition and fully charged? Have you disconnected the battery recently? Some immobiliser systems need to be reset if the battery is removed for long periods.
EXACTLY which dash lights are they? The lights are there to give you a rough idea as to where the problem could be. This could be anything from a faulty fuse for an engine sensor to a faulty engine immobiliser. Comment below with more information and I'll try to help you more.

When trying to start engine if the light that looks like the back screen with a zig zag line through it stays on or flashes the engine is immobilised , if you have a spare key or card try that . I would need more information to answer more
yes the lights on the dash will light up as usual but the car wont start as it is immobilised if the chip in the key has stopped working, usually there is a red light that flash's somewhere on the dash and when the car recognises the key the light will stay on and the car will start! if te chip is gone the car will ight up as usual but it wont start as it will be immobilised although on a car of the age yours is the immobiliser will be simple to bypass if you hav'nt got the knowledge an auto electrician shoul be able to sort it out with in a hour so it won;t be exphensive.
Hi
Had a similar problem with my x type 2.5 petrol, only had the car 1 day went to start it nothing happend all the lights came up on the dash but the engine wouldn't start and the immobiliser light stayed on. Spoke to Jaguar they had no idea and I couldn't get it to them. After disconnecting the battery trying to reset the immobiliser phoned and auto locksmith they came out and discovered the end of the key with the blade had lost it's coding and the immobiliser was not disarming, they reprogrammed the key and the car started no problem. As far as i know there is no way past the immobiliser. Hope this helps.
