This oil (I'm assuming you mean the light) gauge is telling you not that your oil is low, but that your oil pressure is low. This can happen in high mileage engines after they've gotten worn out, or if the oil pressure sender fails or gets plugged. You'll want to have someone check your oil pressure with a manual gauge to verify which is the problem, and then it'll either mean a new sender, or a different or overhauled engine.

The oil light came on whild driving my 1999 Lexus RX300 and the engine shut down. After pulling to the side of the road, I turned the igintion switch off and then on and the car started and I drove i

The oil warning light is telling you the oil pressure has dropped below 10psi which does not always mean the oil level is low.
When the oil pressure drops, the power for the fuel pump is cut for safety reasons. You would not want the fuel pump to keep going if you were in a wreck and the engine stopped but the key switch was still on.
It could be a faulty sensor, or you really could be loosing oil pressure.
If the light comes on again, you would need to have the pressure checked with a mechanical gauge.

Low oil pressure warning keep coming up but my oil pressure is fine

Could be a few things, first Get it checked with a mechanical gauge to test low motor oil, clogged oil filter, bad oil pump, clogged oil sump (pick up tube) or bad oil sending unit. Then replace sending unit sensor.

You have a possible issue with the voltage regualtor inside of your alternator.
You can drive to Autozone & have them test for under voltage & overvoltage condition, appears to be a voltage regulator failing.

Let me know how it turns out for ya!
Good luck to ya....

Oil gauge drops to 0 after engine is warm, checked oil. it was low apox 2qt filled it up , restarted motor, ran for a few min. again same problem. now when shut off and restarted it does the same thing?

when you say it does the same thing the iol level keeps going down that would be a major problem
if the oil pressure keeps droping check the pressure with an external gage do not rely on the factory one if the pressure is good the factory gage could be bad if not you could have a bad oil pump

If the valve lifters are quiet you most likely have oil pressure even with gauge showing "0".Sounds like the oil pressure switch going bad.I would try that first.

It sounds like you may have a bad fuse distribution box problem due to the multiple electrical problems. Inspect the fuse box and look for any damages to the fuse box and wire harness, pay attention to the wire harness from the engine compartment to the cabin compartment, look for any damages and corrosion. Star with that to save you some money since time is money and the dealer will just take as much time as they can. Good luck and hope this help. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.
