This is caused by the door ajar switch sticking. easiest and cheapest way to fix this is to spray a generous amount of wd-40/enforcer/pb blaster or like spray chemical into all the door latches. this will free up the sticking switch. spray it into all your door latches since we dont know which switch is sticking and spray a lot of wd-40 onto them

1998 Ford Expedition "door ajar"

The door ajar switch is located inside the rear door face along with the latch. They can tend to get dirty and sticky over time. Using your favorite petroleum based lubricating spray, shoot it directly into the door latch area, being very liberal. Open and close your doors several times to make sure the switch is working freely. You should do this one door at a time so you can diagnose which door is causing the issue in case it resurfaces. Should be good to go.

Good luck.

Door ajar light stays lit when all doors are shut 2005 GMC Canyon

Hi,
This seems that either of the door switches is/are faulty. Try pushing the switches fully on each plunger switch on each door individually, keeping the other doors closed while you do. See if one of them causes the light to go out. If you do find one turns the light off, it's an adjustment problem with the plunger switch. May still need to be replaced if it won't depress enough with the door closing to turn off.Let us know if you were looking for something more else please accept the suggestion.

The door ajar light is staying on and causing the interior light and the running board lights to stay on. There is no door open

A door switch may not be working though. Try pushing each door inward while shut. If one door then turns off the lights, either glue a small spacer to the door where the switch button strikes (to push the switch further) or replace the switch itself. Good luck!

The interior lights stay on and the door ajar light is on when driving. the interior lights stay on when you shut off the car thus running the battery down. It happens about 70 percent of the time and when...

Find the lamp push button on each door.
Open one door, and only one door (or tailgate).
Push the lamp button IN at that door. If light goes out, then that particular push switch needs adjustment or replacement.
Cl;ose door and open another door. Push button IN.
Keep doing this until you find faulty door push button.

Which door was it?
